Re: Disable In-Game Lighting Per Object?

Ha. Bottom of first pic, background trees are dark. Most recent pic, all trees are the same brightness. It's a lot more obvious in game. In any case, the point is to make the tree wall indistinguishable from the billboards, so mission accomplished?

Re: Disable In-Game Lighting Per Object?

Care to share the results? I'm curious. http://openlightpictures.com/pub/treewall2.jpg This is from the same angle as the bottom half of the first picture. I'll have more to show soon. I'm pretty happy with how this is looking so far. One thing I've noticed is that it's important to keep the billbo...

That worked perfectly. Thanks!

Disable In-Game Lighting Per Object?

Is there a way to disable the in-game lighting/shading for a specific model? I am asking because I have made a tree wall to go behind some billboard trees. Since the billboards aren't affected by lighting, but the tree wall statue is, the wall doesn't blend as nicely depending on the angle. Here's a...

Wouldn't that be awesome?

A centralized, up-to-date, and easy to navigate source of info would enable much more progression all around, IMO.

Looks like I have to be working on an x-z plane. Only took me the afternoon to figure that out!

Re: How to place objects in blender?

Here is a script to write the placement of objects that have been placed in blender. Basically, the coordinates will be written with respect to the origin. If the objects are placed in the x-z plane, uncheck 'Convert to y-up' when exporting. To set up an object: 1. Place object in blender. 2. Selec...

Re: Released Track Objects

it wouldn't be too bad as emf/rf have used it for a long with metal barriers which have modeled bars for it, and as long as you make LODs for it you should be fine http://openlightpictures.com/pub/wirefence2.jpg Made a version with modeled wires and it looks much better. Now I need to figure out th...

Scattering Objects with a Density Map

A key component of natural looking vegetation is randomness and variety. In a natural forest or grove of trees, no two trees are the same. They are all of various heights and species. Mimicking this sort of variation in MXS can be rather tedious. http://openlightpictures.com/pub/probmap/Example.jpg ...

Re: Released Track Objects

You could always have a plane with the texture alpha'd and then make a lod for the distance which is just a bunch of long poly squares with the texture over it no alpha. Luckily that makes zero sense so I'll post a pic soon I think I know what you mean. If you have a pic to illustrate though that'd...

Re: Released Track Objects

Thanks guys. Is anyone aware of an efficient way to make a wire or chain link fence that doesn't abruptly disappear at a short distance, or angle? Or is there a good fence out there that doesn't do this? Thanks! The only way stop this from happening is have all the wire modelled instead of a plane a...

Killer work, Tristan! I'm not familiar with the real track, but it feels very realistic and the attention to detail is outstanding. What an immersive environment! The rough and traction is exceptional. I love how the track feels well ridden, but the bumps aren't in-your-face big. I only have a coupl...
