How will this affect your lighting engine? Are we going to see and significant updates to the current engine or is there a new one? What happens with the shading and x2 files? It's the same as when you use erode now. It re-shades where the track is modified. Any baked in changes in the shading file...

Set "ground texture resolution" to 128x128 and restart the game. You might want to just use the "normal" presets if you want to go back to sane defaults.

The only way it'd run on a Chromebook would be if it was an x86 Chromebook with a real Linux distribution installed instead of Chrome OS. Not sure if there's a Chromebook fast enough to run the game at a decent FPS.
