It has to be a P5 grayscale image. P6 is RGB. Try converting to grayscale before you export it.

Lazy terrain reshading for better erode FPS. JLV, was this update what you referring to when you said this? For a 110 FOV you want to be .7 times the width of your screen away from the screen. 80" is diagonal so I can't say without knowing the aspect ratio.

Thanks for taking the screenshots. I'm thinking it might be because you can't brake as hard going downhill. Uphill you can brake as hard as possible but downhill you'll endo if you brake too hard. The file has to be a true PGM file. To check it, open the shadows.pgm file in a text editor. The first three lines should look something like this:

I was just rereading the slope limit code and it actually only applies to the case where the dirt would be pushed uphill so it shouldn't be preventing downhill braking bumps. I'll do some testing to make sure I haven't reversed the test somehow. Quick question on slope, is this 0-90 degrees or is it...

You could try a separate tile type for jumps. I'd have expected the default .25 erode_max_slope to prevent much form happening on jumps. Already doing a separate tile type, but the whole issue is wanting jumps that can get rutted/worn down. If we don't get that, we're just going to get big wall rut...
