I'm using blender 3.3 and the old export script still works for me. Make sure you're in object mode, and you only have the objects/layers you actually want in your object selected. I had this problem when I had the default "light" and "camera" in my collection with the rest of my object. Delete tho...

just use 2.79 and the 2.79 export script. you can still do all your normal stuff in 2.8+ but then just export your object jms in 2.79
