Re: Not another "new game engine thread"
Its true that bad user content will still be bad user content, but when you have used proper shaders and you realize simpler things actually look better, it gets super frustrating to have to doctor an mxs model to the limits for it to look somewhat real, the engine is out of date and an old generati...

Re: Not another "new game engine thread"
Weather or not someone pays isnt the issue, any mxs player who sees moto going down in unreal engine 4 or cryengine will buy it upon seeing the first screenshot, no need to convince them now.

Re: Upcoming Models #2
A thing to mention, high poly modeling and making a high poly for a bake are two different things. High poly modeling is modeling every single aspect of detail into a model, while making a high poly for a bake, although can be modeling in extra detail, it is often more a case of defining edges and s...

Re: Not another "new game engine thread"
As far as I know, its not that JLV's engine is old, its just that he made it all by himself, so he is just working to improve it, although I do agree, Cryengine is exceptional, the legal issues with that is tremendous, not to mention the major issue with actually rebuilding the game.

Re: Directed at Jlv.
Interesting you say about the forces fighting each other, what time step do you use for the physics, as in what is the physics frame rate if you don't mind me asking?

Re: Upcoming Models #2
Something you might want to look into is texturing before modeling. This is very helpful on the motor for example. Texture the motor, then add the texture to a plane, and model from there, so effectively your texture and model match exactly.

Re: Directed at Jlv.
Personally I think having some sort of a 3D gyroscope inside the rider would be a start, where the rider and bike are disconnected more but the rider tends to pull the bike towards it, rather than the bike chucking the rider around. Personally I think the biggest issue currently is the relationship ...

Re: Directed at Jlv.
One thing id like to say, may be way off, but I think its important to keep in mind, that as far as I understand the physics that are programmed in are actual exact numbers. I believe this flying issue is nothing to do with weight, because more weight doesn't make something bounce less, it simply me...

Re: 3d animation/renders
You know they are trying to standardize them but the reason they arnt is because they are actually not from the same company. Autodesk now makes them all but up until recently it has been other companies which have now been bought out by autodesk.

Re: 3d animation/renders
I love how in cad things are mathematical, like sketches, but I wish they could have the rendering easier for people like me to understand.
