Now that I've been working with them more, I think I'm getting a handle on how these things work. It appears that with shaders turned on in the graphics settings, shading.ppm gets updated essentially in real time. So, any external editing I do to this file gets replaced with the game's shading. What are the default settings for grass/dirt on the blank track, before editing tileinfo? I've tried friction 1.0 1.0 roll_resist 25 50 0 as someone suggested but that didn't feel right at higher speeds. Right now I just have texture @dirt.ppm addtile Which feels about right.
