Re: Game Optimization

Is it the actual shape of the ground or the shading that isn't updating quickly enough? During Checkerz's erode test yesterday, I experienced a problem with the erode showing up too slowly, especially the first few laps since he had the limits set so that the track eroded very quickly at the start,...

Re: Nationals Erode Testing 2018

The erode on the race we just finished worked really well. The limits I think are about perfect: lots of lines forming early on, then about halfway through the race it settles in to a good level. I felt like there were multiple usable lines on the majority of the track, and late in the race it was s...

Re: I have a problem with the mx 2018 nationals tracks

Any error messages when it crashes? What are your advanced graphics settings?

Have you tried the low res version of the tracks (not just object pack)?

testing to get rid of the jackhammer around the track. Don't know if this lines up with your experience, but when I was doing a lot of single player erode testing, I found that a relatively higher erode_inner_depth often allowed for lines to quickly appear, but resulted in more random chop as far a...

Re: Avoiding "client track modified"

Actually a good question. As a track maker it would be helpful to know what exactly can or can't be changed when making low-res versions.

Sure you’re in time trial mode? You’ll only start behind the gates in race mode.

Re: sun angle/rotation calculator

What would the formula be to go the other way, i.e. from XYZ coordinates to angle/rotation? I feel like I should be able to figure this out, but my trigonometry skills are not what they used to be.

Basically I want to figure out what rotation to set for a plane statue so that it faces the sun.

Re: 2018 MXSEMF.com Nationals Rd02 - Glen Helen

I think we're doing okay. Doing great. I loved erode from day 1, so seeing it improve as much as it has already is very exciting. I don't know if the folks complaining about erode have seen a real mx race, but a changing, rough track is essential motocross. I thought the end of the NA ams motos fel...

Re: Decal grouping and erode

Here is an idea to help erode pop more visually. I like the unmasking idea a lot. It would allow variation and creativity in terms of what the ridden areas look like, as well as allow the new lines to fade in gradually. It would be great if you could also define what at what height map depth the &q...

BTW, a lot of The National Map data is actually a lot higher resolution than what was available via sketch up, it's just not as convenient to access.

Re: How-To: Create Replica Track Height Map (Sketchup Method)

Does anyone know of a method that currently works? From this thread: http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=48319#p815812 Unfortunately, Jakob is correct that SketchUp has been "updated" so that you have to have the Pro version to get terrain data, and even worse, the data i...
