Re: mx.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close...
So, I used to only get this error when loading a track, but strangely in the last couple of days I've been getting it sporadically in the middle of time trial or a race. It's especially frustrating when it happens while working on a track and I lose a bunch of work. Turning down the graphics doesn't...

Re: How to place objects in blender?
I think I figured it out. It looks like the edges of the terrain are simply extruded out the sides. If I get the Y coordinates of the objects set on the extruded terrain, and subtract those from the Y coordinates of the objects set on the custom extended terrain, the objects sit properly on the grou...

Re: How to place objects in blender?
? Is there a way to duplicate in Blender the game's invisible extension of the terrain beyond the edges of the map? Or maybe better, a way to disable it in regards to the height of objects placed outside the map? I'm just trying to find a way to get billboards and/or statues to sit properly on cust...

Re: mx.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close...
I'm on a mac using wineskin and get the same error semi-regularly. Usually turning down some of the texture related graphics settings helps, i.e. turning Model Texture Detail down a notch usually solves the problem. It seems like texture heavy tracks or models cause the error, very similar to the "o...

Re: sun angle/rotation calculator
Awesome, thanks again! Definitely wouldn't have figured that out myself in any reasonable amount of time. For anyone reading, here's a simple atan2 calculator I found: http://util.io/calculator Also, here is a "ruler" I made for a sphere mapped sky: http://openlightpictures.com/pub/cd_SpheremapGrid....

Re: sun angle/rotation calculator
This was very helpful actually. What about getting the angle of the sun from the horizon, using XYZ coordinates?jlv wrote:atan2(x, z)
You might have to swap/negate x and z to get the right quadrant.

Re: Terrain size
Check out this thread if you haven't already: http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1134 Some of it is out of date, "texturelist" for example, but still a lot of good basic info. You can change the size of your terrain with the terrain.hf file. This is from the above thread, with some ed...

Re: Nationals Erode Testing 2018
Erode + Outdoors + Sand = Sim at its best
That was a lot of fun. Great work! The only other thought I had was that maybe the max depth for a few of the tight insides could be a little shallower, but otherwise the shape and amount of ruts/bumps was great.

Re: How to place objects in blender?
With my nonexistent python knowledge, I managed to edit wheels' write.placement.v1 script to give me usable height values for objects outside of the main terrain, but it only works in game if I flatten the edges of terrain.png. I don't know how to take into account the game's invisible extension of ...

Like this: Thanks to wheels brilliant bpy-script the surrounding terrain object on Fermo now have a few billboard trees placed on it. http://www.mediafire.com/conv/086b67256b469650f723f4387f1c892d6f2c45e1bc4000a233822bee8645846a6g.jpg http://www.mediafire.com/conv/494bdcfc44c4caf401b39acf24f0b1811d4...

Re: How to place objects in blender?
The other writes the placement of objects that do not fall within the bounds of the terrain (You must have the terrain in Blender, as the surrounding object Y location is dependent upon the height of the terrain at the edge pixels). Is this script available anywhere? Trying to get objects to sit at...

Re: Game Optimization
Is it the actual shape of the ground or the shading that isn't updating quickly enough? During Checkerz's erode test yesterday, I experienced a problem with the erode showing up too slowly, especially the first few laps since he had the limits set so that the track eroded very quickly at the start,...

Re: Nationals Erode Testing 2018
The erode on the race we just finished worked really well. The limits I think are about perfect: lots of lines forming early on, then about halfway through the race it settles in to a good level. I felt like there were multiple usable lines on the majority of the track, and late in the race it was s...

Re: I have a problem with the mx 2018 nationals tracks
Any error messages when it crashes? What are your advanced graphics settings?
Have you tried the low res version of the tracks (not just object pack)?
