If he were to convert the game over to a new game engine he'd have to buy the rights and licensing for that game engine before he is even able to get to work on remaking the entire game. Specs of your pc and if it isn't the greatest everything that you do not use just completely remove from the game folder. If you're trying to run shaders take it off of software.
