Re: MXS Needs a Nice, Heavy Flywheel
That's good to know. I think I'll make it elevate its priority by default from now on.

Re: Throttle Response
When I don't have any torque numbers I use 5 foot pounds. Most dyno charts start out around 5,000 RPM. So you pretty much called it. It's 5 pounds and then at around 5,000 RPM you get to the actual power curve. I guess I should smooth that out. My thinking had been that if the bike can't run the dyn...

Re: Supercross track scale
I choose 1:1 because 1:25 is too much, i though I was playing on some MotocrossMadness tracks : big jumps (only) ! I'm (trying to) making a replica of a local track and finally i use a 110% scale. Can you expand all the reasons for that, why 1:1 tracks seems little in game ? And if bikes jump more ...

Re: some questions about eightfields
You can't change the base terrain mesh since the terrain LOD system depends on it. If I wanted to make a track that way I'd try using Blender to bake a displacement map. You might also be able to set up an orthographic camera and use fog to create a height map. To get 16 bit output you'll have to us...

Re: Ground Friction and Resistance Index
Could you explain the extra bodies comment? I'm not following you, like I said I'm stupid. You can leave the wheels off the car and figure out approximately what forces the wheels would have put into the frame of the car. That way instead of having 5 bodies (the frame and 4 wheels) and lots of susp...

Re: Supercross track scale
No, you're definitely right. I was intentionally putting the berms back a bit to make a little more room at 1:1 scale.

Supercross track scale
I want your opinions on the scale for this track (right click / save as). "sx2010r01anaheim1_100percent" is the 1:1 scale version and "sx2010r01anaheim1_125percent" is the 1.25:1 scale version. I'd prefer real scale if possible, but in the past that has resulted in cramped feeling tracks. Although f...

Re: Game problem, please help
It will limit the resolution for the ground tiles and might run a little slower. A working driver would be a better solution.

Re: Ground Friction and Resistance Index
It would make sense for a tire that digs into the dirt. In that situation a ribbed tire would have more lateral friction than a paddle tire. For knobbies I doubt it will be very different. Phathry, one thing you might be missing is that MX Simulator uses extra bodies to model the wheels and suspensi...

Re: Game problem, please help
It looks like your graphics driver isn't updating the lower level mipmaps. I'd upgrade the driver. You could probably also make it work by disabling framebuffer objects and ground mipmaps.

Re: 1.3 Update is out
If the computer is locking up it's probably a driver. Most likely the OpenGL graphics driver.

Re: Ground Friction and Resistance Index
It's coulomb friction with the coefficient varying by slip rate. I don't use different coefficients for lateral slip.

If you want to reset everything, you can delete the config file. Open the windows start menu / all programs / mx simulator / mx simulator personal folder, then delete "config".
