When i got to record a demo it says "Not currently recording a demo" when i do the command /namedemo "name" any idea why?

Are you sure it ever went that far? Most monitors don't go all the way to the border. What does it look like on the desktop? It looks exactly the same on the desktop aswell I had the same problem, for me I had to low of a power source and when I upgraded it it changed also use vga rather than hdmi ...
