Need help getting started on mx simulator.

Post by Simadowna119 »

i am a motocross racer who is a mx vs atv vet who has been competing in touny's on xbl for years. Finding it extreamly hard to find any competition, and also with my general interest to this game because of what i see on youtube, i want to buy this game and everything i need to get started tonight. i have some questions and would deeply appreciate any help.

i am going to purchase a prepaid credit card tonight to buy the game but can the game be purchased anywhere besides online?

how do i purchase skins/bikes/tracks? (not sure how this works)

where do i go to compete against the best online?

whats up with the ps3 usb setup? i will purchase a contrloor and usb cord and whatever i need tonight just need to know what i need exactly.

is there anyway to talk to each other in race progress, headset? (sorry i know nothing about PC gaming)

I have been watching the internet videos of the game and i want to have everything to be playing real supercross/motocross tracks online against others with a cool bike of my choice ect.

Once againg thank you for any help, Simadowna119

Put all Tracks and skins in your personal folder (Start/programs/Mxsim) I would suggest putting all skins and models in a folder to keep them separated from tracks name it skins or something..Its a little more organized since almost evryhing goes in the personal folder and It gets big quick...

To play online (multiplayer) U will need your registration key typed in (Menu/Reg key)
Then choose multiplayer and type in the server you want to race in after what is already typed...

Hope this helps

I remember you from xbox, I think we used to play with tkmxrider or whatever.

Every Tuesday (ussually) the new sx round is released, then that Thursday, there is a race on it.

Also, there are multiple chatting programs people use for this game (ventrillo, xfire, skype ect). If you have a mic, I could send you the details to a Ventrillo chat, that the best riders on the game use.
only one to win something real from the game!

yes i do have a mic, i want to compete in the sx races weekly. and i remember tkmxrider i used to run a team and he was on it back in the day. I download the tracks then move them from a zip folder to the mx simulator personal folder or whatever its called and that works fine. The tracks are simply in my menu. But when i try this for bikes/models/ skins it does not work. they dont show up on the game... is there something i am doing wrong or need to do differently?

also i know this may saound dumb but i dont know the difference between a skin and a model? or what they are. but i want to figure it out and have sick graphics/gear/helmet/boots ect.

again thanks for any help.

A model is the 3d representation you see in the game.

A skin is the ... stuff painted on the model. Like the actual shape of the rider comes from a model, and the appearance of the riding gear comes from skins.

so i download a model, and then i have to download a skin to go over it? and then how do apply that to the game because i have a few tracks and i try adding skins and models the same way i add tracks but they dont show up onthe game like the tracks do.

You don't really select models, but you do select skins.

You add them to your personal folder just like tracks. Hard to say whats going wrong for you there.

When you select a skin, the skin actually tells the game what model it's supposed to go on.

While the supercross series sounds fun, I'd advise you to spend your time figuring this game out rather than trying to race in the supercross series with some of MXS's elite riders. Thats like jumping on a motocross bike for the first time and riding in the A class.

thanks for the superb advice!, Yeah i am not trying to be a nuesence for the faster riders. I have been trying to get used to the game but to be honest it is very touchy and frustrating. maybe it's because i played with arcade physics on for a week strait.

In my opinion NO game should be this hard to get used to or this touchy, it looks to me like i'll be playing for a year before i can even think about signing up for a sx race, but i guess it is not a game it's a simulator, so a simulator means as real as possable right? basicly this is my point; i garauntee that teaching someone to ride a 125 and roll all the jumps on a track in real life(when they have never rode a mx bike before ever) would be TONS easier than trying to teach someone to ride the easiest track in the game and roll all the jumps, without falling over.
just an opinion....

heres another thing.. i'd say 85 % of jumps i hit in real life i let off the throttle at the tip of the jump (depending on the face). as far as im concerned this cannot be done in the game without endowing over the bars and it's screwing me up because i try to play the game as i ride in real life. for the past 3 days i have been trying different noob setups, some seem better than others. but no matter what if i try to hit a jump as i would in real life i endow over. i have to throttle all the way up the face of the jump to get a smooth take off.... do i realy need to explain what would happen if i tried this in real life?

So since i am so bored with the mx vs atv franchise i will keep trying.... i doubt mx vs atv alive will even be worth buying so i will keep practicing and trying to get better at this game and see where it takes me but honestly i dont know if i can take it seriously. anyway i know you guys could probably care less but im stuck somewhere with my laptop so im typing away my feelings on the game....

Hey honestly we've all been there. I am no where near good enough to try playing the SX series and I think I've been playing for 2 years.

This game is insanely frustrating, but there are also plenty of times when it feels just exactly perfect, and that's what keeps ya playing...
