Maybe go to a local race where everyone upgrades every year and sells old stuff cheap! I used to sell my bikes that way.
PS this would have been a good post for off topic 8)

people who do that are usually selling fancy newer four-strokes, for fancier new four-strokes, doubt he would find anything in his price range

i bought a 97 cr125 for 1100 lots of aftermarket and a tote full of goodies. sold it a year later. bought a 94 kx125 for 600 had fmf pipe and silencer wiseco piston and v3 reeds. only bad was plastic was cracked a bit. sold it for 900, after like a month. now im thinking about buying a 96 rm125, and a 97 yz125 for 1200. both run and are fully modded. you can find good deals. it just takes a bit of time.

You can get a cheap, good bike for under 1500. These aren't bikes that I ride, but we got a 2006 RM125, brand new top end and maintained very well for $1500 (deal of a lifetime). Also a 2001 CR125 for $1400, well maintained. Basically, get ANY bike that has had good maintenance. I like to buy my bikes (if used) from racers because I would know the bike would most likely be well maintained compared to the average trail rider.

I hope somebody routinely checks the frame welds! That's quite a few years of fatigue on those joints. You can't kill the 2smokes.
