Will the game be released on steam?

Post by Powdered »

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself as a (cyber) motocross racer!
I really enjoy this game and would go as far as saying that this is my favorite MX game but it is my least played because I don't see a future in this game.

I would like to ATLEAST bring up the though of this game being released on steam. I believe that this would revive the game again and bring in more players. Making the game more accessible is just a big + and I know this dev is talented enough to do this. I do see that the dev is still active and this led to me seeing more potential. Steam would make the game more accessible and it would be something new to a lot of users.

The original website where you purchase the game looks shady and can definitely make someone not want to purchase the game. One big factor is the price... I think the price should be lowered or go on sale. I'd prefer for it to go on sale because this dev deserves the money in my opinion, but then again $42 isn't a friendly price for such a small game.

I tried explaining to the best of my capabilities and I'm not very active on here so if you need to contact me you can DM on discord, my username is: powderedup

I probably will at some point. BMT Micro was great when Barb was the customer support person but now that she retired there's nothing special about them.

I always thought the reason for it not being on steam for this long was something to do with you getting a better cut of the sales. Steam is known for having a higher take percentage compared to other other distributors. On another note, it'd be funny to see some steam achievements

Well I will be looking forward to this! I have been trying to get a family member on the game but he hasn't gotten it since it isn't on steam.

Steam does take a much bigger cut. But it does seem like there are plenty of people who are afraid to buy from anywhere else these days.

i think if theres a shot to breathe new life into the game, it's probably a good idea to take it, i've already seen plenty of MXB playing not wanting to buy sim purely for the fact that it's not very appealing that it's "on some random website." Who knows what will happen, but I certainly feel it can't make the games situation worse by it.

You'll never have to contact anyone after purchasing sim as long as you keep track of where your reg key is and where the game download is (usually in the same email). But yes it is simply easier having all your games on steam and readily available to play and switch your pc on at any given time

I would FIRE the marketing manager for not being on there especially when your competitors have benefited & evolved exponentially :)

i really think you should look into it, the way i found out about MX Bikes is i saw some of my mates on steam playing it, steam really is free advertising. then i bought that game and was curious if their where any other Sim games witch is when i stumbled across MX Sim. i think MX sim is a lot more fun then bikes from what i have played from the demo but i do hope you bring it to steam so i can buy it.

People on Steam will buy anything with Simulator in the title, no matter how good or bad the game actually is. This could hit an entire crowd that doesn't even know what motocross is simply for that reason!

YouTube is a great platform for this game though because there are some popular people in the algorithms that get people to watch MXS content, hell that's how I found out about the game. The biggest thing for me was trying to understand how to do any of the customizing, like adding tracks/bikes/gear etc. It seems like a lot of people now more than ever do not want to look up how to do anything and this game is REALLY intimidating when it comes to that. But I do see how some people would pick this up if it hits the "this dirtbike simulator is extremely hard!!" chunk of youtube and people flock to the game and never even think to mod it.

Boy, those stock track lobbies would be fun to be in!

One thing i still prefer so much more about sim over MX Bikes is the customization in terms of being able to run virtually anything you want. Most people use the same bike dyno's, and each of those dynos are completely independent from a model so you can use any bike you'd like on any dyno. And I also think the process of saving out anything like bike skins or gear is just SO SO SO much more streamlined than in bike, because you have to use multiple different programs to get it into the game. In sim all you need is photoshop or an equivalent program that can save things out as a png, the jm files, and knowing what to name things and bam. No file conversion needed, like with MXB needing to save things as a TGA, then figuring out which bit setting you need to use for any specific graphic like a diffuse or norm, and then using an entirely separate program to convert those files into a PNT file. And doing all of that only allows you to make one file game ready at a time, whereas in sim, you just save everything out in one bunch because everything is just linked to the UV's of the JM files. I think that alone is an attractive part of sim
