Does this affect the overall power of the bike? I cant get my bike to hit the rev limiter on flat ground unless I shift down.jlv wrote: Torque curves are now interpolated instead of point sampled.

I bite that sounds alright.

"I didn't jump the gate...it musta' flipped back up, after I went over it!?!"
Re: 2011-07-21 snapshot
that is sooo much better (engine sounds i mean) sounds crisp. dunno what ppl carrying on about. Sounds like a factory 250 to me.
can you change reverb etc with this sound?

I was thinking that. I'd be willing to donateShackAttack12 wrote:If dynos at different loads and rpms is what jlv needs, we should help out and provide him with that. Renting a dyno for an hour doesnt cost that much, and all you need to do is have some way of monitoring rpm. Record the bike at 20,40,60,80,and 100% load at various rpms.
Id be willing to do it with my yz250, but we need 250 2-strokes in the game first

Give me some numbers, and Figures, on what it would cost. I would be down to whip out the card lol.
Re: 2011-07-21 snapshot
In my experience it's right around $50 per hour, if you're going to pay for it. $60 per hour if you don't want the shop idiots bothering you while you are there, lol.

Guys, you're also going to want some quality recording equipment to get the sound right. Don't forget that. Unless you know someone who owns them, it's going to add to the cost too.

Those who possess strength have also known adversity.
Re: 2011-07-21 snapshot
Hmm could get an external tacho used for noise testing, a decent 16 bit or 12 bit recording device and link them up to log some readings as you ride around the track?
Dunno if the built in 12 bit ADCs in your average microcontroller would be fast enough. Save on dyno costs and you can sell the setup to some other game developer once your done with it

Re: 2011-07-21 snapshot
Same thing happens to me. There's always at least one bike on the gate that does that, and it only seems to stick around for the first lap for me.Shadow wrote:Yeah, the sounds are definitely better than the old completely synthesized but far from perfect. Usually it sounds ok, but there's some 4-stroke bike(s) that make an electric fuzz/static sound when revved. Don't know what they are as it came up online.

Just thought about it real quick. Probably the person not pulling the throttle in all the way. Derp.

I found out today while playing on a private server that when I spectated my friend, his bike sounded like it was playing through GameBoy Color speakers, while mine sounded the same to him. I wonder why this is. It sounds like the same problem that others are having.

yo jlv!!! i ride a 2010 crf250r and these sounds are pretty accurate if u ask me. the 2 stroke sounds a little muffled and the limiter gives me a headache. just a little bit of tuning and they will be perfected.
brana brananananananahhhh (rev limiter)
Re: 2011-07-21 snapshot
Are you 100% certain about that? The only difference now should be less torque on very abrupt flywheel speed changes. In my testing the new code only came into play when you screamed the bike while landing and even in that case you'd expect the change to make it slip less. I can raise the torque limit but I'd prefer not to since it really helps the stability of the flywheel damper.yzmxer608 wrote:I think it's fine everywhere besides the whoops, it's so hard to not have the rear wheel slide around for me.
As far as the dyno goes, I think I'll try to make a hillbilly dyno next summer. Based on the videos I've seen, a rear wheel dyno is way too noisy. I'd like to have a pretty big flywheel attached to the countershaft and maybe a brake too for constant RPM sound recording. I wouldn't want a regular tach. I'd want to record the timing as a stereo track, e.g. left has the timing and right has the sound. That would tell me the exact RPM of every pulse coming from the engine.
Those youtube videos are all unusable. Way too noisy.

Is that repeatable with a demo? It definitely sounds like a real bug.KTM57 wrote:I found out today while playing on a private server that when I spectated my friend, his bike sounded like it was playing through GameBoy Color speakers, while mine sounded the same to him.
