Major improvement! Noticed a smoother frame rate right away. Now I get smooth framerates even on tracks like jean d,angely by haggqvist.
I also had some frame loss on the nationals , in those tight rutted corners. And no more blank billboards.Need to test if erode is playable
on my system now.
Thx jlv!

PS:How come 2 tracks running at 125 fps, one is noticeable smoother then the other, but at no point fps drops bellow 125?

Are you getting better framerate riding by yourself? I thought this snapshot would only be noticeable when theres a few riders

Tested it by myself. Some corners on jean d,angely were unplayable before.I had troubles with most of hagg's tracks.
Now they don't drop below 125.

This only speeds up the rendering of models with bones. So like DJ said, there shouldn't be much improvement without a lot of riders.

Would we notice difference in older demos? I played and tested it originally with an old rf natinal and did not see a difference.

The source of the demo shouldn't matter. It should render the riders faster when shaders are on. Nothing more complicated than that.

I didn't knew if it was a placebo effect , so I reverted back to the old snapshot.I definitely have a performance increase by myself.
The rutted downhill corner on jean d'angely droped to 99 fps, and seemed very choppy. With this snapshot it stays at 125.
Am I imagining it?

I believe you. It does seem like a lot for just the one rider model though. The only other thing I did was remove an unnecessary glActiveTexture call from the model's display list. Maybe that was preventing your gl drivers from storing the list in graphics memory.

Huh, it seems I'm having the opposite effect of everyone else. My framerate got worse and the game is choppier now. I went back to the old snapshot and it was back to normal. Could this maybe be implemented as a menu option in the next snapshot?

That's interesting. What video card and CPU do you have?

I would have expected it to work well with that GPU. Is it possible you have an application profile set up for the old version but not the new one?

It would be a mess to make it optional so I don't plan on doing that.
