Hey guys, im a big noob at this game as you will realise. I have been playing mx vs atv for ages now and am so used to how the bike handles on that, and like most on the people on this forum would have realised that MX Alive was a total waste of money so I have turned to MX Simulator because of the awesome videos I have seen on the net.
To me it feels like I cannot even line up a jump let alone even ride in a straight line. I have also followed tutorials on youtube on how to set up the ps3 controller with the pc and how to adjust the suspension and bike. Is there something I am doing wrong cause I have played it for hours and it has got me no where. Every corner I take I end up on the ground, its near impossible to do a whip and when I do I land and it crashes, it doesn't turn properly. Is it just cause im crap at the game and need to get used to it? Any help would be much appreciated

First off, make sure the arcade physics are turned off. Then check what your stability level, because if its at the standard 100 the game is going to be shit!! Turn it down to about 70 and you will be able to turn a lot better. Onfe you get comfortable with this move your stability down 5, keep doing this until you get to a good level for yourself. Around 10-30 i would recommend. Also, it helps to have a good setup. Go to mxsimpits.com and look at the general bike setup page, copy all of the setups and then decide what one you like best and stick with it.
MXS is a pain in the arse learning curve so be patient. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me

practise dude we all had the same problem. i think that 70% of the players rage quit like 30% of that comes back later and gets better by playing alot and then getting the hang of it and thats what makes this game fun.
Re: Help - How to play MX Simulator
Sounds like you need to rethink your approach. You're not leaning the bike, you're turning the handle bars with your inputs. So, don't ever hold the turn button, just quick presses to make adjustments. You turn the bike into the corner, and then turn the opposite way throughout the corner to keep the bike from falling into the corner too much. You never really go strait, or get a break for putting in small inputs you're always making small adjustments and turning slightly.
The game works on the counter steering method. This is something you can go try out in real life to further your understanding of how it works. Get on your bike, or moped, or dirt bike and get going at a steady pace, no a slow wobble or hauling ass, just a nice easy speed. Then, without leaning the bike or moving your body at all, pull back on the handlebars with your right hand gently, the bike will tip to the left and your natural reaction will be to turn the bars to the left to steer into the turn and correct it. This is the sole control input you can use in MXS to control where your bike is headed. All the whips and scrubs work off of this one principle. Pretty amazing, right?
Also, just like in real life practicing often helps a lot. To add to that playing the game on consecutive days will help as well. It seem's that when you do something new on two consecutive days you'll notice you are better at it starting the second day, than you were at the end of the first day. I guess the brain will adapt and comprehend better over night, and you'll pick up better than you left off the next day. This is part of what richy mentioned above. Just leaving the brain to do it's thing and taking a second look at it is usually all you need.

Re: Help - How to play MX Simulator
Just to point out Counter-steering a bike is the only way to turn a bike at speeds of above 15mph anyone who has undertanding of riding anybike road or off road will tell you that obviously theres other ways to turn a bike fast like spinning the back wheel or rear brake but thats all advanced methods which take practice but counterseering is something that naturally happens and most average joe riders never know there doing it which is why it important to undertand it and the affects it has on a bike to make riding easier and and it will bloody save your life one day if you ride on the road
Its is amazing but its pure basics of bike control as well as throttle control and braking. master them on MXS or real life and riding a bike is easy. Its the going fast thats hard bit and thats why the likes of us who sit on our arse playing games will never touch the likes of James Stewart at raw off roading pace or race Motorbikes like Valentino Rossi or should i say Casey Stoner
ash_50 To be honest everyone will say just practice and you'll think otheriwse but its all thats needed. its what you do with anything new in life
If i were you id start with the basic tracks already a part of the game as they are fairly easy to navigate pick up the basics then when ready move onto some harder tracks then if you want to supercross and the ama nationals as they will stress you out big time at first so leave these tracks until your confident you can tackle them.
Also don't worry to much about setup the base one is good enough for newbies.
good luck mate.
