Is there a proven method to training AI?
I put a great deal of effort into searching forums for a proven method to train the AI.
and so far this is what I have attempted.
placed the --learn in shortcut
Deleted line_expert file
2 clean laps per gate
the result:
Although the AI is able to ride around the track, they will not start when the gate drops, They seem to start when I hit timing gate "1".
any assistance will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Trained with and without AI present. (what is recommended?)
Clean laps only (never falling or stopping) I restart alot...does this affect the outcome?

I'd love to have a decent AI on this game since I don't play online 'cause I'm ashamed of my really poor level

The AI is really bad, they can't really handle tracks any more difficult than the stock tracks. They totally fail, even on Ridge Riders.

What do you mean by that?? I guess my questions are now.
1. Do I (--learn) ride with AI, or on my own, or does it make a difference.
2. Once completed lap1, normal lap. Do I quit and go back to (--nolearn) "normal" mode and let the AI progress on there own, or do I continue to train them?
3. For my "normal lap" timing_gate placement should I start with 23/starting gate and end with 23/starting gate? or is the current layout correct?

It they don't take off on the start you might have waited too long in the gate.
Once you have some lines in, add
--learn --practice --warp --nosound
to the command line args and set up a three lap race with one bot. Let it run for a while to decide which lines it likes. Sometimes running more than one bot will help, but that can slow things down since they get in each other's way.
The other important thing is to mark the gates that the AI shouldn't switch lines at. You don't want them to switch over jumps or whoops, so for those gates add 100000 to them and the bots will not switch there. Ideally you want them to switch in smooth straight areas, but you also want them to have at least one switching opportunity per straightaway. As an example, here are the Vegas SX gates. Pretty much only switches on corner entry.

i ride in 03 and 02 alot now i get last like every time but i just ride online to practice and i like to ride with more ppl on a track so yea.
also riding with faster ppl wil make u faster too watch their lines and stuff.
go out and spactate i also do that alot.

Dude thats silly talk. I useto ride offline too, and i wasn't getting any better. Then i just started riding supercross without caring what anyone thought, and actually got alot faster at a faster rate!
