Game server addresses and track lineups

Post by jlv »

Here are the servers currently running:

Stock
elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19800 (you can leave the port number off this one since it's the default)
5 laps
Track lineup:
  • rabbithill *
  • alcrest
  • locust
  • x1b
  • overhill *
  • smithtown
  • glenside
  • buddscreek
  • ridge
  • redbud
  • mooch
  • waterloo *
* rabbithill, overhill and waterloo are set for 0 minutes. That means a restart will always switch to the next track if one of these tracks is up.

Nationals
elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19801
5 laps
Track lineup: MXGP
elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19802
5 laps
Track lineup: Easy SX
elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19803
8 laps
Track lineup: Current SX
elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19804
8 laps
Track lineup: Motoball
elsinore.mxsimulator.com:19805

Sweet, good too see you are getting more servers going. I suggest you make one of them SX though, then make one A+B, and the other C. Thanks anyway. (Oh, and I wouldn't consider Old Goldberry an A grade track, I think its too easy)

Is it that hard to remember 19800, 19801, and 19802? Had it memorized since the first time I saw it. The server browser will come with time, this build is obviously for testing the gameplay, not the menu system.

Gah, its gonna be impossible to get on the the SX server. You should ditch the first server lineup, and add some more riders to the SX

I bet we should have 3servers
1st server - easy national tracks with some user tracks but the easy 8 players
2nd Server - Hard national tracks with more user tracks 10 players
3rd Server - Only supercross track - 10 players

Yah, we finally have supercross but with only 4 riders? Can anything be done to increase this?

What do you think is the maximum reasonable number for SX? I could go 6 C, 7 B, 7 A and 5 SX with about the same bandwidth usage.

The bandwidth formula in bytes/sec is: (1504 * n + 2304) * n

Where n is the number of players. Notice the bandwidth used goes up exponentially with the number of players. In other words, 2 10 player servers would use more bandwidth than 10 2 player servers.

I'd like to keep it under 300k if possible. 6,7,7,5 comes out to 296736 bytes/sec. 8,10,10 would be too much at 461568 bytes/sec.

Id put more people in SX maybe 6-7 and then evenly spread the rest for MX as much as possible.

I know ALOT of people will like super cross and with only 1 server it will be full all the time.
