It sounds like the game can't read or write its config file for some reason. Make sure you have some free disk space.

That's not a whole lot (about 411.5 mb) but should be enough for the games config file. After you make some settings in game, exit and open your config file with notepad and see if the settings are stock there, or if they are what you changed them to.

Sounds similar to what another person had that I responded to. Read below:

I know yomo said it may be the hard drive, but I know that for me its happened twice also, and both times when I shut down computer improperly. Weird. Since I spent hours also, at least I know all the settings so it only took like 5 minutes to be up and running. Hope you remebered yours.
Do you shut down computer properly?

this is the exact same thing as what happend to me, it's as if you just bought the game, Joe Motocross is the default name that JLV used, you just have to do all your settings again, it's REALLY REALLY! annoying

I had that problem a while back, but it seemed to reset some settings to default and quite randomly, not everytime. Then I noticed that when I double-click an *.mxdemo file, it opened with an older snapshot exe. So if you run an older snapshot, it does a new config file without the newer menu options. Then I changed the default program to open the mxdemo files to the newest snapshot and it worked again.

This might not be the case here, but I thought I'd post it if somebody happens to have the same problem.
