What is it?
OpenGL pseudo-driver that adds some graphical enhancements to OpenGL-based games.
To get it working, drop the files inside the .zip into mxsim's install folder and then add these lines at the end of the QeffectsGL.ini file.

Code: Select all

[mx.exe]
RenderFrame=-1
effects
Anisotropic texture filtering*
Full-screen antialiasing (MSAA)*
HSL color correction
Screen-space emboss bump-mapping
Screen-space ambient occlusion
Bloom
Depth of Field**

Modded .ini settings: http://www.mediafire.com/?i3cbda6vkkl4jud

That looks cool in-game. Whats with the blurred line on the edge of the rider though?

good find shadow!

you are 1 bad dude!

for me after a quick test i dont 100% like the stock stettings from your DL, but a bit of tinkering will make this better!!! i think its a little too blured around the rider and in the background. maybe somewhere in between this setting and stock would be just right! ill play around

cheers al

realised why my game was crashing and i must say it looks amazing in-game. however i get a 'glow' around lighter colours which doesn't look good.

A subtler bloom effect:

Bloom=1
BloomSteps=3
BloomDarken=3.0
BloomScale=0.5

The problem with doing bloom like this, is that it's not exactly HDR, as the exposure doesn't change.

Thanks man.
Came upon it by complete happenstance while browsing through zdoom forums this morning. Didn't have time to tinker with the settings as I had to leave to the uni, so I just quickly scraped something together that didn't make my eyes bleed like the stock settings.

The source code is available at the code.google.com address so if there's anyone more code oriented they could take a look at it and improve the features/add some more like HDR etc. Bokeh style DOF like in crysis mods would be awesome.

Awesome, I'll have to try it out. I probably wouldn't use it for racing though, would just be a hindrance.

This is madness, the bloom has brought this game to life! Direct-x will be sick though. Sick find shadow!
