Don't recommend laptops because you can buy a 1000 dollar computer that would spank a laptop. But that's my opinion. I can still try to help you find a laptop but if you want it to run sim very high during sx or high during outdoors, you'll probably be paying over 2000.

Some good deals:

That MSI is a steal of a deal, IMO until you get into $1200 and up there isnt much better than that.

Yeah I travel to my cabin in the summer and I'm not sure how hard it is to move a computer, but it would be a lot easier for a laptop. Pretty much the only game I'm going to play on it is sim. I'd probably be willing to go up to 1.6k so do u think one of those MSIs would be able to run normal sim graphics with 125 fps for supercross? Outdoors with a full gate? I feel like any of those laptops should do the trick for me but I just want to be sure when making a purchase

I don't know about a full gate on outdoors with your graphic settings maxed out. It takes a pretty good computer to do that. It should be able to handle 40 riders on medium settings as long as you don't get to carried away with high poly models.

Here are some benchmarks for the graphics card that the $1600 one has. It can max out most games and can run Battlefield 4 maxed out and get around 30fps according to this.

I have the same laptop i havn't played mx simulator on it yet though. I mainly use it for web development. I would say its the all round best your going to get for that price unless you want something that ways 10 pounds.

Also it might get a little hot since it's so thin i would maybe read some reviews on it. You can always get a cooling pad if you have to but it should be fine.

I should also point out that that it is last years model that i linked to it has the 870m gpu.

Here is this years with the 970m that is supposed to have nvidias maxwell architecture with better cooling. The 970m does battlfield 4 maxed out at 50fps as compared to the 870m that does it at 30fps.

It is a $100 more though but worth the extra in my opinion.

You can make a small computer for easier mobility. You would be able to do so much more with a pc.

Ease of use = laptop. Capability and power = PC

A mITX build and monitor would be better performance/dollar just depends on if you want to move it all.

http://pcpartpicker.com/b/BHjcCJ You will have to build it but I think it would be a fun project. They make cases that can be moved around easily with large sturdy handles. Laptop vs Pc, i'm gonna say pc 100% best bang for the buck. So....

Honestly if the only game he is going to play is Mx Simulator he really wouldn't need a desktop. Yeah it would be cheaper but then your tied to a desk all the time. $1600 really isn't that expensive for a laptop when you compare it to the $2000+ Macbooks that everybody buys.

False.. I paid €700,- for my laptop and it plays a 20 man gate sx on very high settings on a high res sx smoothly. Also a 40 man gate on a national track is not a problem. However a pc is always the better option.
