Re: 2015-09-21 snapshot
im just looking for an easy setup solution. if high speed settings b4 the 9/21 patch were kinda stiff. and then the 9/21 patch made it too soft. and now there is a patch 9/24 that makes the suspension stiff again. does this mean that it equals out and my high speed settings are same as before now?

You're trying to ride outdoors on a SX setup. You need to soften the shock up for sure. You can see it isn't absorbing and is deflecting off the bumps. That would be your compressionMixinGas535 wrote:Here is a video using checkerz's setup. Any way to combat the rear wheel hopping like this or is there just so much you can do? https://youtu.be/IwwiQ7ClNKA

Thanks man! Seems to work pretty well with 10 or so backed off both compressions in the rear. Now I can finally focus on pounding out some laps and getting faster instead of worrying about my suspension

What would we do without a suspension tech that's so generous? Bottom out?

Can I send my MXS suspension for a Race Tech gold valve kit? I won't pay for models but I'll sure as hell pay for a setup right now. Feels like i'm riding on some shitty WP stuff.

Haha Puma. Give Peter some time and I'm sure he'll have setups dialed and I'm willing to be his marketing agent to create a new company called Race Tech Virtual haha. JLV, how about creating that live tuning graph and other stuff requested and calling it the "Race Tech Virtual Tuner App"?
By the way, Race Tech recommends and runs pretty low preload numbers and it is really important on a real setup. I've seen setups go from horrible to amazing by just changing a preload number. Infact I saw Justin Sipes SX testing last year notice HALF a turn on his rear shock spring and go from "okay" to "Don't touch it, this is awesome".
On a 2013 RMZ450, 185 lbs rider MX setup we recommend 6mm of preload on forks, 4mm on the shock.

Anyone that's struggling for a 450sx setup is free to give what I'm trying a go.
User beware - this is definitely NOT a setup from a super fast rider lol just what I've worked to from Shaq's base and what I had previously. Definitely still needs tweaking, and maybe changing entirely, but I'm feeling my way around it bit-by-bit. For anyone that does try it, would be interested to hear what it felt like to you. Anyway, here you go:

Referring to changing the preload is just changing the sag right?checkerz wrote:Haha Puma. Re: 2015-09-21 snapshot
Changing the preload changes the sag, but what he means is you want to choose your spring rate so ~4mm of preload gives you the correct sag. If you have to use a lot of preload to get the sag right your spring is too soft.yzmxer608 wrote:Referring to changing the preload is just changing the sag right?checkerz wrote:Haha Puma.
