AI Speed

Post by afred »

Hi everyone :)

I really enjoy playing MX Simulator, but would love faster AI . Now, on to my question.

I'm curious if there are many out there that find the AI speed too slow. On expert I'd like to see faster riders.

Anyone know if there is a plan to create maybe 1 or 2 steps faster AI.(maybe something like in real life, D (beginner), C (junior), B (intermediate), A (Pro). Then after that, possibly something to qualify for an AMA Supercross license. I think that would be really cool.

Possibly where you have to come up through the amateur ranks, and depending how well you do, get a factory ride right out of Loretta's (or a different name) or a support team. Then have both 250F, and 450F bikes. Once you get a specific number of points on the 250F, you can transition to 450's where the AI might be a little better.

I love this game, I just wish there were more modes like in real racing. I'd love to be battling over 8th place and feel like I've accomplished something by placing top 10 in the 450F class at Red Bud or Washougal. :D

Ok, maybe that was a little long, but I'd love to see some of this happen, and I'm guessing most people would love something like this. Anyway, faster AI might be the first step in this process. What do you guys think?

It will probably come in time.

I'd love to have realistic classes, and having pro classes, and factory bikes, etc. That'd be awesome.

Also, if the AI would run cleaner lines, and transitioned better between lines, that'd be awesome.

I agree about the speed of AI, it could do with being 6-10 seconds a lap quicker. It really is too easy.

The AI is not a matter of coding i dont think. They are coded quite remarkably, its where we train them is the problem. I think the AI could be better if it used a different AI training method. This is probobly worse then what we have but if you manually placed the lines like go into an AI mode in track editor and drew say 15-40 different lines around the track and then let the AI run to fine tune them i think this could be a good way to train them. Right now i think the AI do this but you create the line by riding not by a "Brush" in the track editor.(i could be wrong)

I think there needs to be an extra class, called Pro, where the AI sort of has a hybrid physics, mixed between arcade and normal. They still have to capable steering of normal physics, but can't stack like in arcade. That might lead to more intense racing, and it would be easier to train AI, especially for SX
