Xbox Elite Controller?

Hey Guys,

Anyone had the chance to use a new Xbox Elite Controller with mxsim? Any benefits to it over the 360.

I really have a hard time with my current setup with the 360. Mainly as the joysticks are just way to sensitive, Hoping with the elite i can tune down the gradient in which they activate,

Currently with my right lean stick, the smallest movement seems to give a lot of force, almost works like an off, or on button. Kinda frustrating as i would like it to work as you would expect with slight lean on the stick, is slight pressure. Mine currently doesn't seem to react in this mannor

Anyways was thinking the elite controller would be a nice upgrade and i believe more customisable? anyone have any info

Assuming it works with sim JLV?

If you think it's too sensitive, you might be able to adjust some rider settings in the advanced menu.

I believe it's a controller thing. Tryed many setups to counter act it, but adjusting one thing to compensate hurts in the opposite way. I know people have hacked certain things to adjust the range of the controller i believe anyway

If you're using a Microsoft Wired 360 controller, there should be no problem, or is it like a "Rockcandy 360 controller" or similar? Well I had my own setup at first, it was pretty fast, or normal as I called it back then. I tried Vanderlee's (mainly advanced) and it was slower and more controllable. I think it was the leveling and roll damping that was changed. All the sudden I didn't die to the sides all the time.

I have the ELite controller as well as a standard xbox one controller and I cant get either to work in sim. I do have Win10 as well so that may be why but it doesnt seem to want to let me map them to the controls.

Wahlamt - Currently using 360 controller with wireless dongle. all microsoft gear

Justin653 - Thats interesting man, wonder if JLV has any insight into support for this, do you have the new dongle from xbox? as it only works on win 10 for the new controllers i believe.

UPDATE: just ran to Bestbuy and bought the dongle for windows 10, and still no luck. triggers dont work as well as the left stick. so annoying. Im not sure if its a windows 10 issue or an mxs issue, because the controller works fine in other games.

I've only ever used Xbox Elite controllers, plug and play. The 360 and elite controllers are the same though just different color right?

I don't have any special knowledge about it. Calibrating it might help a little.

No, the elite is way more premium, with rear toggles and changeable buttons, look them up, they are killer

JLV, the elite has more buttons, so maybe configuring is different not sure. Once i get my hands on one i can help try and fix this issue.

Back in the day we used to tweak the deadzones on the joysticks in the config file.

Like this:

left_key=(-0.200000,-0.937500)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) axis 0
right_key=(0.200000,0.937500)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) axis 0
clutch_key=(k)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) button 4
upshift_key=(-0.200000,-0.937500)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) axis 4
downshift_key=(k)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) button 2
dab_key=(k)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) button 0
back_up_key=(k)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) button 6
lean_forward_key=(-0.200000,-0.937500)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) axis 1
lean_backward_key=(0.200000,0.937500)Controller(Xbox360WirelessReceiverforWindows) axis 1

The .2000000 is where it starts. So the joystick will not do anything until you reach .200000 and then you start to lean. So if it is set at .000000000 it will be very sensitive. Not sure if I set all of mine to .200000 or if that was added into snapshots automatically at some point.

I think I am understanding it right. I'm tired and can't explain it worth a crap right now.

Jbob!!!

legend, i adjusted this only from:

left_key=(-0.062500,-0.937500)Controller(XBOX360ForWindows) axis 3
right_key=(0.062500,-0.937500)Controller(XBOX360ForWindows) axis 3

to:

left_key=(-0.1,-0.937500)Controller(XBOX360ForWindows) axis 3
right_key=(0.1,0.937500)Controller(XBOX360ForWindows) axis 3

Which only made a very subtle change to the initial stroke, and already feel alot more comfortable with it.

I initially went to like 1.0 and was absolutely too much, wouldn't even register the joystick.

Thanks for taking the time to post that!
