texture update queries

Post by moorin »

i was just wondering jlv with the texture update is the sand files also going to be re-worked becuase i think smaller ruts and bumps are needed in the game like in real life because the erosion setting makes a vey large round rut from the behind the bike when this would be a lot smaller and crisper. also is there any chance of havin wet mud and the bike sometimes bogs into the mud and doesn't always ride over the terrain, this i think could also be done for the sand as well like the front wheel could dig in if you go too slow?

the rut problem cant be fixed really, when you have erosion turned on the bike just acts like a brush in PS working on the terrain.png to get more precise ruts you would just have to increase the size of terrain.png and that would require a more powerful processor if im correct.

As for the mud, that could be possible i guess as well as real water but that would be way down the road i would think.

yeh ok so the texture map size increase is out of the question becuase im using a laptop to play the game. like you mention that the bike is like a brush on the terrain.png could you decrease the size of the brush if you get me? or change the shape?

No, because the smallest thing you can edit is a pixel and i think 1 pixel is about 1 square foot in the game (maybe 1/2 a square foot?)

It's 2 feet per pixel on every track so far. For wheel sized ruts it would have to be at least .5 feet but it would use 16 times as much memory.

so how hard would it be to make small ruts built into the texture of the track? and is it possible to make long berms join into each other or maybe hav axle deep ruts in or is this down to the track designers?

In short all you do is make a shortcut of the mx.exe and go to properties then in the target box add --erode 1.0

make a shortcut of mx.exe(the game)
then right click on the shortcut and go 2 properties
in the target box there u wuld go 2 the end of the text space after the last word and put "--erode 1.0"
there is 1 other combination 4 erode theres erode 0.1
