Changes:
  • Fixed crash when quitting game.
  • Now automatically downgrades textures that have no detail.
Windows users: http://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mx-2016-12-17-1324.exe
Linux users: http://mxsimulator.com/snapshots/mxbin-2016-12-17-1324

Replace mx.exe or mxbin with one of the above files. The default location for mx.exe should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\MX Simulator". I'd keep a backup of the originals since these aren't well tested.

You'll also need to extract this in your install folder:

The automatic downgrading is to recover memory from things like 4k spec maps that are entirely one color and could be replaced with a 1x1 texture with no difference. If it blurs out anything that actually does something please post it.

If you're a texture artist and see a message like this go by it's probably safe to reduce the resolution on the texture:

@mytrack/mytexture.png reduced to 128x128 (originally 2048x2048)

So should there be a performance increase on tracks with lots of unnecessarily large textures?

When I try and open the file, it just says "can't find game data"

Every time I wanna open the game it does say mx.exe doesn't work. 2nd time it does always work.

Its not the snapshot. I have the problem for a long time now. I can live with that but just wondering if anyone knows what could cause this problem.

Jlv I believe the new downsize feature is causing a crash on the Namur track: http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic. ... 51#p752851

It should be a little faster if it finds textures to reduce because smaller textures will fit better in the GPU's cache memory. It'd be a big difference if it made the difference between fitting everything in texture memory or not.

The last one shouldn't be different for loading time, but this one does scan for blurry textures to downgrade which will take some time.

That crash was already happening before this snapshot. Still investigating it.

On the contrary, when i downloaded the new one it stopped crashing, at least for me.

Any plans for any new features? Maybe corner anticipation, head tracking, or anything that adds to the play-ability of the game? Being able to look around is about 8 years over due, in my opinion.I think of the game sorta like the iRacing of mx games, though most aspects of this game are far behind the times. Just a thought.

Did that before this snap. It makes no difference. Throttle still works normal when it matters.

Do you mean when you bind it in customize controls? That's because it watches for axes that don't center on zero like Xbox triggers now.
