PC Stuff

Post by froman459 »

This is my first PC game, I'm playing on a decent laptop, but I want to get into the racing series'.
I would like to go pre built, and stay in the $1000.00 area cause I know nothing about PC's. I dont really have the time or knowledge to build my own cause I work like 60+ hours per week.
Basically I'm wanting to know what specs to look for, and what kinda pre built companies to look into. Hope I posted in the right place.
Thanks in advance!!!

I get that. You coming from a laptop I assume means you need the whole kit? Monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc?

I went on ahead and made a list. Now, I know you said you want a prebuilt but they cut corners and put things in there you don't want. A happy comprimise is to use NCIX, a computer retailer that for $50 will build you system before sending it to you.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/y96Zr7

Add that list into NCIXUS. You can do so by, in the parts list above, clicking the word "NCIX US" next to where it list the price, and it will direct link you to the part on their website. Just go through and add each one to the cart individually. NCIX has a pretty garbage website when it comes to searching and sharing so that is the easiest way of getting the list to you.

http://www.ncixus.com/products/index.php?sku=7842

Add that to your cart which will tell them to build everything in your cart and send it to you as a completed system rather than parts.

Now after that you can price match one item in your cart. The item with the biggest trade is the HDD. Press the button "Start Price Match", find "Seagate Barracuda 2TB" and enter in the URL and price

"http://www.outletpc.com/bi7779.html" and "$69.89"

Now that should put the cart at $806.81 if we've done everything right. A monitor cost about $100 and kb/m combo $40-50 so plenty of room left if you need it.

Any questions or concerns just post here.

A thumb drive is the most straight forward and most likely easiest. Maybe even a "Home Share" that see's you laptop as a network storage device. Maybe a Google Drive to share documents between, not really meant for big files. Another option could be screen sharing software like VNC that also allow file transfers.

Google Drive option wouldn't be great if you have slow internet or a data cap. The others are internal network though and wouldn't be affected by outside limits.

If it were me I'd wait a month. Possibly the first decent AMD CPU in a decade coming out in March.

I agree in waiting for better things but have they finally said a release date? I was hoping CES would be a ton of info but they gave me hardly anything.

I hadn't added the build option in there yet.
With a decent monitor and keyboard/mouse combo the total came out to 1016.00

A few people have told me to upgrade to 16gb on the ram, is that necessary?

Do you think that will stay budget friendly though?
