How do I save Demos?

Ive seen a few videos on how to save replays and I cant get it to save anything it keeps saying not recording or whatever. I just wanna be able to save the races im in and be able to watch them back whenever is anyone could help my dumbass. Thanks.

New race - Record demo -> yes.
When racing, bring up chat
/namedemo DEMONAME
or
/demobackups 10
To save your 10 last races (starts when you activate it, so you won't get lost stuff back).

Ahh okay I was trying to save the replay while I was watching the replay. So Id have to save the race before the server restarts basically I get it now. Thank you good sir
