Major fps drops

Anyone know why I'm getting severe FPS drops randomly while playing? I have an i9-9900k and 2080ti so I'm covered there.. Will drop from 125 fps to 30-50 for about 4-5 seconds multiple times a lap which makes the game almost impossible to play. I'm not getting any performance issues in any other games, just sim.

If it's always in the same place on the track it's probably a collision test with a huge number of spheres.

Turning threaded optimization off helps for some people.
