I think I like the Southwick disp best at this stage. The flow is sick. Especially the whooped/rutted curvy uphill just after the start
Thanks man. Means a whole lot to me. Usually I get knocked for the disp.
But, just so all you PS preachers out there know, my track was made entirely in the ingame editor. I did two things in Photoshop:
1. Looked at the disp.
2. Smoothed some of the offtrack stuff.
If you guys want, i can make a berm tutorial for the editor, as I know DDMX had asked. It's quite the process actually.
Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
You just lost my vote. Kidding of course! I'm excited to play the track when I get home. Judging from Red Bud and Pinned's track as well, the editor isn't a bad tool - it's just a different tool. I still would say PS has a few steps ahead for off track, blending, and base terrains, but for jumps, the editor is sounding like a great tool if you don't know heightmaps like your own face in the mirror.Voutare wrote:DJ wrote:

Re: 2010 MX Track Competition
Yeah, that's exactly it. It's a different tool. I know that when I look at a heightmap, I can't picture how it'll look exactly in game. I'm sure you can, but for me it's just impossible. Photoshop does wonders though with blending, but even then, there's the smooth tool in the editor, which that, along with smudge pretty much is what I used for Southwick.

Same here. My disp map was entirely the editor from the base up. It really is just a matter of learning the tricks of the trade as to which way you want to build a track. Before MX sim I didn't have any photoshop experience so it was gonna be a complete learning process either way for me and I just went the way of the editor. Its just more convenient I guess.
I need to give a shoutout to chris465 and lluks252 for beta testing as well.
Hope everyone is having fun on the tracks. I can't wait to try them myself.
