This is the site where I get all my raw images from. I usually combine multiple textures to make a single texture. Just experiment. Learn to use alpha masks. Try adding different materials onto your dirt layer, like some leaves, rocks or woodchips.
For ground textures, the 'Ground' and 'Soil' menus are your best bet
For sky boxes, go to 'Skies 360' and uses these skyspheres with JLV's skysphere to skybox script. I usually render mountains in terragen and put it onto the skysphere.
There are many other menus. Alot of these are good for object texturing, like rock, or roofing.
Enjoy.

Re: LINK - Best site for textures
I might have to the try converting some of the skies and see how they turn out. I'm still going through the rendering process using Garasaki's new tutorial.
The wood textures are very good on that site also.

The final product from my tutorial is the same thing that you find at CGTextures.
Look closely at the buildings in those skyspheres - they are the same on all the skyspheres!
