Sounds good to me. I'll lock it when the player is online, in the race and hasn't finished yet.
Thought about this a little more. Maybe it'd be better if it only allowed changes when the bike is stopped? That way you could play with your setup online but still not be able to do in-flight adjustments. What do you guys think?
Maybe a few seconds threshold? If you're testing setups surely you'll be patient enough for a few seconds...
Changes must be made in the designated mechanics area?

I think stopped would be fine. It at least takes away the affect of a holeshot setup, or any on-the-fly advantage(whoops, for example).

I was actually wondering when some one would nerf eclair's hot keying setup. Smart, but unrealistic and takes away from the racing in general.

I'm good with allowing changes while stopped.

With the autosave, my idea is to have a demo folder in the server folder and simply add:

Code: Select all

--autosave-demo (-enable?)
in the serverargs file? I don't know how it is in bigger races but in that way it'd be really simple for the user who's only playing with 2 friends.

I like JLV's idea of saving multiple demos although I would personally like to see a way of saving to the server (purely on the basis I have a crappy connection and uploading a demo of moto 1 and 2 at washougal took me over 5 hours to upload).

I agree with setup being changeable while stopped although perhaps put a delay on it? So they have to wait 1-2 seconds before they can actually change it. Otherwise they are not losing all that much, they would be able to washout in a corner and switch, yes they are losing time but not too much.

DP but it would actually be pretty cool to have a designated "mechanic's area" for setup changes. Set up an entrance timing gate and exit timing gate and setup changes would only be allowed between those two gates.

"Changes must be made in the designated mechanics area?"

Instead of designated mechanics area, maybe something like how the penalty works and you cant move but not as long as 15 secs ofcourse.

well when i come to think of it, 15 seconds is a good time, not too short and not too long. and maybe it would work with the pit idea.
