Re: 2013 Zero MX
I just cant picture these mopeds making a supercross triple or around southwick or the mud if that. The noise would kill our videos people make. They are ugly and like I said I bet it cant go though deep sandy mud as well as a 4 thumper or a 2 stroke.

265 pounds holy shit! I would love to see what the power curve is. Anyone found data other than the manufacturer specifications?

Take your logic and GTFO!!!!DJ99X wrote:The rear sprocket is that big because the bike doesn't have an internal gearbox like a combustion bike.
Why would this bike go through sand as well as a 450? It has just as much HP and instant torque. It's impossible to bog....

Don't get me wrong. I have no interest in owning or riding one either. But to say that a bike with specs that match up with a 450 wouldn't work as well as a 450 is silly. Like DJ noted chassis and suspension technology is really lacking on these bikes, I would imagine that is the biggest thing holding this bike back.

For those that havnt seen it, check this out.
Whether you want to admit it or not, the future of motocross is electric. It might take 20-30 more years but electric bikes will takeover! oh yeh, your van/pickup/race hauler will be electric too!

Re: 2013 Zero MX
The horsepower goes linearly from 0 at 0 rpm, up to 54 hp at 4000rpm, then stays at 54 hp until it reaches its max rpm, whatever that might be. The torque is 68 ft-lb from 0 rpm to 4000 rpm, then drops by half everytime you double the rpm. So it follows a hyperbolic curve after 4000 rpm, and will hit 34 ft-lb at 8000 rpmDK662 wrote:265 pounds holy shit! I would love to see what the power curve is. These bikes are good, but not that good. That is an incredible sandbagging video, A class rider suddenly going to race C class (This was raised on Thumpertalk when this video was posted by the Zero MX guys, some guys local to the area looked up who the rider was)BuddyTheElf wrote:For those that havnt seen it, check this out.

I think electric motors will be kick arse once they have batteries that last longer than a fat mans fart.
No clutch needed because you have full torque from 0 RPM? Yes I'll have one of them thanks.
The thing that would weird me out is being able to just hear the suspension / chassis banging around, when you don't have a motor revving it's tits off you can hear all the *CLUNK* etc when you smash through bumps. Kinda the same vein of thought that lead the Prius' engineers to have to redesign the wing mirrors, as they could hear a heap of wind noise from them once getting rid of the combustion motor.

Re: 2013 Zero MX
I've seen on a website a Honda CR-F with an electronic motor. I think in the end it goes again over the known bike brands.Phathry25 wrote:Don't get me wrong. Still hope that i dont live until the rider fields are full of these electronic bikes, would be just too much. The shock a few year back, as the 4 strokes came was gnar, i cant survive another revolution!

Here is a rough representation against a KTM 450 SXFDJ99X wrote:The horsepower goes linearly from 0 at 0 rpm, up to 54 hp at 4000rpm, then stays at 54 hp until it reaches its max rpm, whatever that might be. Re: 2013 Zero MX
NOPE THAT WOULD NEVER GO THROUGH THE SAND AS WELL AS A 450!!!!!
I am curious to see how many RPM the motor can turn. Obviously without a gear box it is pretty dang important.

Re: 2013 Zero MX
I'd say it would at least get to 8000 RPM. The BRD Redshift goes to twice the RPM of it's peak HP
