I have this problem randomly. Not sure what causes it in my case but usually right clicking and running as administrator makes it work.

I don't know if that's any help at all.

Not sure if this is related or not but the first time I try to open the personal folder it takes a long time too. I don't have any extras in there right now besides 2 tracks and about 12 demo files.

It must be something in the file scan in that case. I'll try adding some log info to help narrow it down.

Don't know if this makes any difference or is useful info but for me the game only doesn't load up first time when I try to open it after just starting up my computer. So say if I stopped playing sim, closed it down then re opened it, it would then open first time.

Sometimes i have Your same problem guys, it takes a lot to open the game... But i've seen
that in 'Windowed' mode, it's way faster to open

took out 104 gb in personal folder. only left zz files, worked perfectly first try

Use this exe and post the lastlog.txt from when it loads slowly or fails.

Finally figured out how to force Windows to flush the log file. None of the flush/commit calls do anything, but closing the file and opening it again seems to work.

Looks like it's hanging when it creates the OpenGL context. Do any other OpenGL programs give you trouble?

I don't know of any other common OpenGL programs. Sorry :/ if you name some I can check them out

When I do this the same thing happens as it always has on the long initial loads; the last log stops writing itself.

Now what I find really odd is after opening the game again with that exe, the resolution listing isn't shown at all (but Awoods does show it). I tried this twice after 2 reboots to make sure I didn't use my normal shortcut or something, happened both times. Here's a lastlog from the 2016-02-15 snapshot of the game starting initially (note I tried opening the personal folder first after a fresh reboot before starting the game to see if that somehow helps, which it did. This is the lastlog from that attempt). The large time gap is right after the resolutions are listed, exactly where it stops writing when the initial startup is really long. Does it have a time-out or something? Anyway, I find it weird with almost all of my tracks and skins in the install folder now the personal folder still takes long to open initially (while the install folder opens instantly).

I loaded into a track then quit.

I think you had the wrong version in the first log as it should have been dumping info about the files it was opening before the mode list. I should really make it print the version number in the log. I'll add that now.

Is this 5 second gap repeatable?

Tried again making sure to use the correct exe (made a shorcut to my desktop, also noted the correct version in game) and it did the same thing after a fresh reboot with a long startup time. Weird...
