Toggle Tilemap View in Editor
Toggle Tilemap View in Editor
It'd be nice to have a toggle to view the tile map over the decals in the editor. Basically if you switched to the tilemap edit, it would show the tiles over the decals.
Re: Toggle Tilemap View in Editor
Yes! Or show/hide all decals, which ever is easier to implement.

This would be really good!
Also on the topic of toggling. How about the ability to toggle the height map visible while in editor? Maybe even a shaded relief map using that greyscale height map?

+1
I’ve been meaning to suggest this for a long time.

You might want to check out my decalstotilemap script.

I think the issue here would be to see which tilemap settings you have where without having to take out the decal file. If you need to extend some section or just double check to see if it's right.jlv wrote:You might want to check out my decalstotilemap script.

OK. Just wanted to make sure you weren't drawing them by hand when there's a tool for it.

Re: Toggle Tilemap View in Editor
The script seems super handy for getting things roughed in, but I find that a lot of fine tuning still needs to be done by hand. For example, say you have a sand decal and a dirt decal with corresponding tiles, but you also want to add a dirt/sand transition tile at the border. Or, say you have different erode settings for a corner and a jump face, but there’s no reason visually to use a different decal.jlv wrote:OK. Being able to toggle between the tile map view and decal view would make this much easier/quicker. Being able to adjust the opacity of the decals (as a whole) over the tilemap would be even better.
Right now I create a separate decals file with an overlay set to 10-20% opacity to use as a reference while tweaking my tilemap.

I will do it. Not immediately though.
