Where and how i add new tracks?

What to i have to do when i download new bike/helmet/track/clothing, whatever?
Give me some good settings?
I readed the " must read" topic or something, and i downloaded shoei helmet, i unextracted it and it didn't appear on gameplay. Why ?
I hope i get good answers, i'm new at this game and i don't know nothing.
