How to install Mx Simulator on Mac + Tracks, skins, using editor etc.

Hi!

Almost 6 years later and now I've updated my old Mac tutorials to real proper ones that actually aren't super confusing and bad... Also they should be more reliable and you don't have to pay for an "emulator". More or less everything you need to know (besides controllers) is in these videos :)

These updated videos are updated for "2018" because wine staging (at the time of making the videos) weren't compatible with the MacOS High Sierra update *.
* allegedly only computers with SSD's or SSHD's are affected, so old computers might be fine with the old guides.

* If you update to Mojave and it doesn't work, re-install the game and it should be fine.

If you have issues with the game crashing/not opening, try this:

Part 1 - Installing the game

Part 2 - Getting skins and tracks into the game

Part 3a - Updating snapshot

Part 3b - Installing an update

Part 4 - Accessing the editor

Part 5 - Stock model replacement
* Stock model replacement is the same, except for the new folders, which in my case is:
Install folder: ~/Applications/Wineskin/Mx Simulator/drive_c/Program Files/Mx Simulator
Personal folder: ~/Applications/Wineskin/Mx Simulator/drive_c/users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Local Settings/Application Data/Mx Simulator

~ means your home folder

Using controller (links are in the video description):

The reason for this new topic is just to have all of the old junk out of the want, but still keeping the posts in that thread.

If you look for the old "2017" WineHQ/Wine Staging guides, they are in the spoiler below
Part 1 - Installing the game

Part 2 - Getting skins and tracks into the game

Part 3a - Updating snapshot

Part 3b - Installing an update

Part 4 - Accessing the editor

Part 5 - Stock model replacement

This is the procedure, you just change --editor to --hidden-pause . You can run any --command this way.

In order to launch it with custom commands, this is how you have to launch it. I want to find a better way, if I do, I'll make an updated tutorial on it.

Now also have the "installing an update" added in the 1st post, so both snapshots and updates are covered.

I can open wine and run mxsim. It freezes all the time tho. When I'm in wine I can't fine any of my tracks that I put into the folder. When I find the wine file folder it doesn't have mxsim. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. And why do you have to download xquarts? I just used wine to open mxsim and it was fine. My only problem is it freezes after five minutes of playing and when I access my wine folders I can't see mxsim

I've had the problem too where tracks aren't found, not sure why. Honestly I don't know why I had to install xquarts, but if I didn't have it, it wouldn't let me install wine. Not idea why to be honest.
