Yes it's possible (for the displacement and textures only (if you use the textures as one giant decal)). But it's not worth it to do, the displacement is 256x256 compared to MXS' standard 1025x1025. There is a lot of quality loss there.

I have no experience with MVA or the editor but from my understanding:

yes, it is possible. It is not advisable though, as MVA exports a 256x256 heightmap, where MXS uses a 1025x1025. Simply resizing the map will lose a ton of detail. I reccomend practicing with the in-game editor. lots of people use it, lots of people love it. It is designed for this game, use it!

have a look here:

Ok i will have to just practice with the editor a little bit. I thought if it was easy to convert the tracks to mx simulator i would just use the mx vs atv editor because i like that editor a lot better.

It doesn't come with the game, you have to download it. If you did it will just show up as blank in the track list.

Isn't there a way to change mx simulator so it uses 256x256 so then it matches the mx vs atv editor.

Terrain.hf
resolution scale minaltitude maxaltitude
eg.
9 2.000000 -5.146564 48.516369

'resolution' specifies the size of the terrain.png and shading.ppm you are using. The formula is 2^(n+1)+1. So 2^(9+1)+1=1025, hence standard tracks use 1025x1025 pixel terrains.

2^(7+1)+1=257 Close enough to resize it to 257x257.

Replace the 9 with a 7.
