REALLY low fps?

Post by Zachkx100 »

I just installed an ATI radeon HD 5770 graphics card a few hours ago. I previously had a 9500GT in there before which ran fine on medium settings. I went to load MX sim because I was curious as to how it would run it with a much better card in it. To my surprise it ran like my old laptop does, it seemed like it had 0.1 fps, and loaded everything really slow when I got in game. I was doing some searching and found that someone said to update my drivers, the only problem is that I have the newest available drivers right now because I JUST installed the most up to date driver while putting the card in.

AMD athlon dual core processor 4200
2GB ram
ATI radeon hd 5770

I really don't know what to do.. =\

What does the driver info (at the bottom of Graphics/Sound Setup) say?

It says,
"Driver info:
ATI Technologies Inc.
ATI Radeon HD 4800 series
3.3.10524 Compatibility profile context."

I mean really, it's just this game only. Which makes me even more frustrated, it's always the games I want to play that mess up.

You're getting software OpenGL for some reason, although the driver string looks OK. I'd try the driver cleaner from the How To Correctly Install New Graphic Drivers topic. Maybe there's something left from the NVidia driver that's confusing things.

Funny thing is I always use driversweeper, and I even got desperate and followed that guide before I posted, but thanks. Hmm, I dunno what to do now. I guess I can try it again.

Sorry for double post.
But I just uninstalled an reinstalled the driver exactly how that forum told me, to no avail. The sound.. flickers I guess you could say. It's weird, it sounds alright aside from some flickering when the bike is sitting idle, but the minute I give it any gas it starts to repeat itself like I've got 0.001 fps or something. This is getting on my nerves. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. =(

Does nobody know what's going on? I REALLY want to play. =( I think the problem is driversweeper? It doesn't work I don't think. I'll run it and clean all of the Nvidia stuff I see on the list, but when I restart and run it again the same things are on the list, is it supposed to be like that? Or is there another program I can download that's similar to that program? :(

So it runs OK until you move? You might want to try renaming or deleting MX Sim's config file just in case you had a setting that the ATI card doesn't like.

No I mean the sound is ok until I give it any gas. As far as the game it gets incredibly laggy, as soon as it loads into a track, which also takes a while. A lot more than when I had my 9500 in. Which is strange as the 5770 is a much better card. It's just so laggy it's literally unplayable, it's just so frustrating. I went in device manager and disabled my onboard which is a nvidia 6100, that did nothing to help. What's OpenGL tearing exactly? I've never heard of it.

Tearing happens when a frame swap happens while not in the sync interval. It doesn't relate to your problem.

Well it's so laggy that it takes like 15 seconds to get off the gate if that helps any. I wish I knew what was wrong so I could try or do something.

Also, not sure if it matters, but I'm running an ATI card on an Nvidia mobo, someone said it wasn't a good idea, but others said it's just fine. I'm kind of debating on putting the old 9500gt back in and just dealing with other games lagging, at least that ran mx sim without such hassle.

I just noticed the driver info says "ATI Radeon HD 4800 series" but you're running an ATI Radeon HD 5770. Are you sure you downloaded the correct driver?

I was wondering the same thing, But I'm pretty sure I did. No other game has problems, it's just this one, which is why I'm confused. I downloaded the correct one to my knowledge. Care to send me a link to the "correct" driver and I'll verify if I have the same one? I was also thinking about looking into an older driver to see if that would work. But I don't know how to go about doing that either.

Go to amd.com and choose "Desktop Graphics", "Radeon HD Series", "Radeon HD 5xxx Series PCIe" and then select your OS.

For 64 bit Windows 7 you should get this: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/ ... n7-64.aspx
