I read you can't use lamps for "Cycles Render". You have to use objects such as the cone. That is what I do. Where should I put the lighting to make it better?model_90 wrote:not bad just got to work on lighting abit

Alright time to break down cycles for ya... Cycles you use lamps for a outdoor scene such as this.. i used a sun lamp.. set the size to 0.005 and the strength at around 10-20.. i also use a hdri map ( some render scenes you can use either or but i tend to use both ).. lighting is a very complicated subject.. i still suck when it comes to lighting in my renders.. hdri maps are the way to go when lighting a scene.. a plane.. now that is something that is a little more complicated because i personally find it alot harder to get a cleaner looking result..but if you get that method down.. that is prob your best bet.. i would just look around the internet to find lighting tutorials.. and for nodes.. i use pretty much the same nodes for everything lol just mess around with the reflection.. im no where near as god like as benji with his complicated ass node setup :3 and my nodes dont use a spec map ( dont really understand how those work just yet )John23 wrote:I read you can't use lamps for "Cycles Render". Wow. Thank you for that imput. I just have NO CLUE what each "shader" thing does. I just follow tutorials. Again, thank you.vortexracingleader wrote:Alright time to break down cycles for ya... For example this is used using 2 different methods.. the chain was used with just emission planes.. and the bike was used with hdri and sun lamp
These are the basic nodes that i use.. again just mess with the values and you should achieve something similar to what i am making.. it just takes practice.. again this is not the holy grail of cycles.. its not like the set instructions on how to do its.. its just a tip and input sort of thing.. also its just a matter of what kind of scene your achieving.. and remember that Compostiting is also a big factor on turning a okay render to a amazing render.. so dont forget to take your stuff into Photoshop and mess with it.. tweak the colors add your background make the image the final image in photoshop.. also a big thing that bugs the hell out of me when people start to render is having there background lighting not match the actual render lighting.. so like you would have a nice sunset style lighting and you have a mid day background.. it wont look right.. so what ive been doing is planning out what i want the render to look like before i do it then go in and do it.. hope this helps you some
