Xbox 360 controller adapter problems

Hey guys, i just bought an adapter so i can use a 360 controller for my pc whilst playing mxs (wireless). I downloaded the correct driver soft ware and when i put in the adapter, it has troubleshooting problems. They tell me to go to device manager so i search it and open it but it comes up with a MMC error then i try it via control panel and it shows this i try to troubleshoot the problems but this happens i do try to update the driver by right clicking-properties-update driver- and then i do it manually and do it to the folder i was given as the driver software but this happens
My adapter and controller do not connect, like it would with the xbox.
I dont know whats going on but could someone please help me out, thanks.
ps. i bought this computer through my school, and idk if they have software stopping this but just giving the heads up.
pps. i have done a scan for viruses and theres none.

i think i did windows update and got the newest updates then installed from the cd they gave me and it worked fine.


before then i had troubles too
