looking good! you add subsurface modifiers?Beast2013 wrote:
only think i can think to mention is look up videos on youtube etc on "plastic" materials and stuff like that and itll teach you more and kinda try to mix what they talk about with what you have currently until you produce something you like. I started out using damiens nodes haha which were good for awhile but since then i have customized them by adding/changing certain values etc. as of now, i have node groups for plastics, main metals, dulls, exhuast, and semi gloss materials. What did my est instead of asking because a lot of people dont really help or they are already busy with something else is to just do research. youtube, forums, 3d modeling websites, etc. i just enrolled in a full modeling course on udemy... ive gotten out of renders because they got boring. i want to move on to other things now.MotoX745 wrote:Ok so... I may be over looking with the results i have come up with but i'm wondering if anyone in here has a good tutorial for setting up plastic nodes in blender, i have a method myself but i've been using it since i started renders and i know it's quite outdated by now and i can't seem to find all that much that really ends up giving me a result that i would like so i would appreciate some help in this area.
Tbh your renders are not to bad. I pretty much made mine myself, there's one 7 nodes so they're very basic but they work. Just don't think about it to much, you defiantly don't need a complicated node setup to make your renders look good. I use the exact same node setup on everything that needs to show the skin eg: plastics, seat, bar pad, controls etc.. The only time I change my nodes is when I'm able to like on my render above almost none of that I used an Image texture on. I don't think anyone on here is probably nice enough to show you there whole node setup but we can still guide you in the right direction.MotoX745 wrote:Ok so... I think he used the kawi model from turbosquid for this renderbroland278 wrote: looking good! you add subsurface modifiers?

Before I figured out about HDRI my renders were not very good. I use it it pretty much all my renders now. I'll pm you my hdri in the next day or two when I get back home and give you a hand. Or you can message my fb page.MotoX745 wrote:Perhaps it's just because i see people getting much more satisfying results from cycles and i am unable to do so. I have very well over thought the process of it in blender and my node setup for plastics specifically is very simple and i'm ok with it being simple or complicated, i don't mind putting forth the effort for it and i suppose part of it is lighting and the environment surrounding the model but it just never seems like i can get something that i am truly happy with, it's one of the bigger reasons why i gave up rendering to begin with. Regardless, i appreciate the tips for it from both of you and i'm still searching on google and youtube, maybe something will pop up eventually, i know it's possible i'm just not sure there is really a tutorial, or any helpful hints for it at least.
