How does RF make their heightmaps?

Post by Stella Caelum »

I'm sorry if this is common knowledge within the MXS community, but could someone tell me what program the RF crew uses to create their heightmaps? I'm new to the game and want to learn how to make tracks, but I'm not sure which program to try to learn. After playing many of the RF Motocross and Supercross tracks, they really stand out to me. I understand that the skill of the creator is what makes the tracks great, but I'd like to know which program they use.

The programs I've seen mentioned for track creation are:

The in-game editor
Photoshop
Mudbox
L3DT
Blender (not sure if this is for making heightmaps or just for placing objects?)
Daylon Leveller

Also, do they livestream or have videos of them making the tracks?

Thanks

In-game editor mainly. Photoshop can be used for supercross to more easily duplicate jumps and turns. As far as I know ColtonD was the only one to ever use blender, which is good if you have enough blender knowledge. Never tried any of the other programs.

But id recommend learning editor first and following a tutorial from SYS or StorkenMXS

Wanna echo what Bdawg said above me, SYS has 2 tracks built in livestreams that could help but I would recommend using Storken since they are actual tutorials and a bit more in depth: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... Xy7OLbmSrb

There are also a lot of good tutorials here on the forums: https://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewforum.php?f=11

I think there are also track making discords but I'm not in any of them so I can't really say how helpful they may or may not be, but maybe someone that is could point you in the right direction for good ones.
