Baja 1000 map idea!

Post by CHILLYDOGZZ »

Ok so i think it would be freaken awesome! to have the baja 1000 as a map. The map would be super long and we could use pictures of the baja 1000 actual track lay out and we can make it so the map is super long as if we were actualy in the baja 1000. There would be sand tails, street roads, and dirt roads. The map would take a hour to complete from start to finish in real time. There will be narrow parts on the trails, ruts, bumps, rocks, hills, (etc). Public roads that you would get on to, to get to the next dirt trail. There would be check points. Also Baja 1000 DirtBike skins so then you can ride a baja dirtbike. Also if it would be possible there would be day and night simulation and also dust.
Who ever thinks that this is a awesome and a good idea please give me a thumbs up. Also for who ever is willing to make this or help me make it please send me a message and also add me as a friend. Thanks :D

Wouldn't be possible to make a map that big without going to an unreasonably low resolution with the current terrain engine.

could we just have a terrain like now probably 4096x4096 and just turn the multiplier to something like 100? but of course the track will have to be done in editor. or is there a limit on how big the multiplier can be Mr.JLV?

Yea i see what you mean but the map size. but just like what the other person said, just make the res. low. Also the map wouldnt be wide it would be narrow but long in langth.

Yes, but that'd mean your resolution is 100 feet. Hard to make very interesting terrain at that resolution.

watch some videos of the baja 1000 dirt bike class and that will give you a idea and also here is the corse map for the baja 1000

hahahaha yea thats true. so we could make the map huge but skinny like a rectangle. then we can make the trail, hills, the different types of ground like dirt, sandy dirt, rocky and rutty. we can then add the finnish line and starting line. It doesnt mater to me about the muiltiplayer and because i dont know how to make a server and also the it wont work because the map is not made for a large or small muiltiplayer. its a time race. its about who ever can make it from start to finnish and who ever is the fastest. but the track has to be long because if its just short it wont be fun.

A big off road map would be a great idea. But point to point like Baja wouldn't work well with the game engine as it is.

What he is saying is "long and narrow" tracks won't work. They have to wrap around.

FYI, the maps on Baja: Edge of Control were squares not any larger than what we are using in most cases, they just did a great job of hiding pieces of the track behind hills and in valleys to keep you from realizing there is more track "just over there".
