Re: Upcoming Tracks and Track Objects #2
One more tip i can give you guys is after you have done like Wahlamt has shown. Take the raise tool and put the strength around 0.75-1,50 and have a pretty small radious (as an example 10-15 gates radious test your way farward to get it like you want it) then just hammer the left mouse button around the track, then do the same but with the lower tool.John23 wrote:thanks man! Re: Upcoming Tracks and Track Objects #2
Starting to get somewhere now! but there is some bad and also good news.
the bad news: Statue trees will be removed and replaced with billboards due the performens issue.
The good news: Is that people with bad computer will probebly run it smoothly. and it still looks good.
Now i need your guys/girls help.
* Do you want me to add .Shp files to every tree on the map and not just some of them?
* What more kind of difficult objects do you want on the track?
Trees laying over the track.
Tree pile.
suggestions?
I would be glad if you guys took and answer this so it will be a funnier and better map.
This is how the progress looks now. The sand pit is taking shape!

Re: Upcoming Tracks and Track Objects #2
I feel like you forgot about the fact that our tracks aren't detailed at all compared to other games. VMX_SKYmx99 and a few others are the only guys who actually put some work into their environment.
However, I feel like putting so much detail into crowd is just unnecessary, cause then we would have to start putting grass and w/e on our tracks, but that would blow up some computers with the current game engine
I think simple planes are enough for now, and by planes i mean like 10 or even more people at once. Back in MvAU albertsx65 made double-sided planes with ~15 people, everyone was using them and the tracks back then didn't look bad at all!
I mean, you never really take a closer look into the crowd, the most important thing is to make sure there are as many people as possible, that way you get rid of looking at individuals.
For example:

http://www.mcmfactory.com/display.php?c ... cts&id=145
IF you guys come up with modelled spectators, I'd advice you to keep them as low poly as possible, xXJontheXx made this like 2 years ago:
I feel like the most important thing with making good track objects is that, if you really want to make the next step forward, you need someone really talented, who can make even low detailed stuff look good. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but that's a job for one of the really good guys, especially if you want modelled spectators as the new standard.

Adding to what Andy said, putting a high density of crowd in small but very visible areas with dense backgrounds/blockage behind them and adding layers will really help. For example, a fence, a tight group of standing spectators, and then behind them a bleacher set or a semi or a group of trees.

a few random log crossings would be cool. Just not enough that it becomes something to rage quit over.mecke96 wrote:
