Is there a easier way to do this.

So when making mostly any track I come across this problem. I am trying to make this part level throughout this turn but its just so time consuming to do and ends up looking pretty bad. HINT HINT WINK WINK JLV if there was something implemented in the game to were you could curve linear gradients it would make this job be 100x easier.
So Have you guys found any good ways to go about this? I don't mind using other programs to do this. (I.E Photoshop or any other things I can edit the hightmap with)

Take the smoothing tool and run over that shit like 1000 times untill ur happy.

He's trying to raise/lower, so it won't work.

Gradients here are your best shot. You can usually get away with 1-2 for straights and 3 for turns (with some smoothing if it's in a slope). Once that is done, it's still relatively time consuming, but not as bad as it was.

just overlap the next gradient over the last one you linear added. The in game editor can do everything you need it to with some creativity

You want to grade the track so there's no side grade right? I'd use a paint program -

1. select a single pixel width path that follows the center of the track
2. copy that to its own layer so you have a transparent layer with a 1 pixel wide trace of the track
3. blur the layer and then threshold alpha to widen the path
4. repeat 3 until it's wide enough
5. merge the layers

If your paint program has a value propagate tool you can use that instead of the blur/threshold combo.

Here's another approach with results similar to what JLV described: http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5656

I also use this technique sometimes to make a gradient follow a path: http://forum.mxsimulator.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=23628
In addition, I lower the roundness of my brush to around 25% and set my Angle control to "Direction" under Shape Dynamics so the gradient is more straight side-to-side.

Yo thanks to all of you guys who responded. I used a combination of what all You guys said and it helped a lot. I still think it would be cool to have multiple points on a gradient so it could curve. (idk if its possible but it would be cool) Thanks for the help!
