Just make the second number in terrain.hf smaller

so, to get a 2048 map as big as a 1024 map i should put the half of the second number? (5 instead of 10 as an example)

also, a 4096x4096 map would be so huge to handle it accurately ingame true?

The second number represents grid resolution... so if it's 1.0, that means 1 ft for every pixel. If it's .5 it's 6 inches for every pixel. 1 foot grid res is really higher fidelity than anyone really uses with this game as is.

So a 2048 at .5 would give you 1024 working space (in game) and give you 6 inch ruts if they are each 1px big.

that really cleared it all, so a 39 px brush would be a 1 meter width rut in game, nice!
thanks for the info dj and checkers, was really helpfull :)

Remember to increase the first number in terrain.hf by one as well in order for the 2048x2048 disp to work.

I think it's 9 for 1024 and 10 for 2048.

my terrain hf file was:
9 2.000000 0.000000 0.000000

i´ve resized the terrain.png to 2048 from 1025 and changeg the values to:
10 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000

now say that shading ppm is not the correct size (1025x1025)so resized both shadings to 2040x2048 and didnt worked, any clues? :(

For 1 thing the shading.ppm file shouldn't be a multiple of 2. It should be 1 pixel larger than the size of the disp map. In your case, 1025 would be correct. Also, what do you mean by didn't work? If the size of your terrain.png got smaller, then it worked. Everything will look the same its just that your disp map should be 1024x1024 instead of 2048.

Both the disp and the shading should be 1 pixel more than 1024 or 2048
