2010 Outdoor Track Competition

Post by DJ99X »

OK, so it seems there are a few people keen for a track competition. So here it is.

The purpose of this competition is to get some decent tracks, so the limitations aren't overly restricted

TRACK TYPE:

Track must be an outdoor track. Whether it is a Supercross or Motocross track is up to you, as long as it is outdoors (ie not in a stadium or building of any sort). If you are not experienced at making an SX displacement map, I highly suggest you attempt to make an MX track instead.

DUE DATE AND RELEASE DETAILS:

September 15th, 2010
. I will post the tracks at my night time on September 16th (as it will be the 16th pretty much everywhere in the world). Thus, everyone must PM me a link with their track prior to the end of the 15th. Please send me the track in folder form, so I am able to saf the tracks together.

RULES AND LIMITATIONS
  • Track must be outdoors (ie not in a stadium or building of any sort). This does not mean that it cant be a night track
  • Lap times of the track must exceed 1 minute and 15 seconds
  • Tracks can be made by teams with as many people as they choose
  • Model Polygons must not exceed 60,000 with a model geometric detail of 20. This will be tested with stock models. To measure this, type "/renderstats" into the chat
  • If you plan on using anything from someone elses track, please ask them for permission first. If any complaints are recieved about this, your track will be disqualified
  • No public betas
  • Tracks over 100mb will not be accepted. Learn to make an efficient track.
  • ***UPDATED 25th July***Tracks already in progress may be entered, as long as it hasn't been released in any form
  • People may only work on one track
  • Replicas are permitted
  • Have fun
RATING THE TRACKS

Nothing set in stone just yet. But at this stage, I might just make a thread, and people have to post their scores for all the tracks. This will be a simple rating, displacement and looks are the only thing scored. Displacement will have a weighting of 60% of the score, looks will have a weighting of 40% of the score.

PRIZES

At this stage, there are no prizes.

QUESTION TIME:
  • What should we do about prizes?
  • Should people be allowed to enter tracks that they are already working on?
  • Any other questions, or things that you would like to say?

GET CRACKING!!!

Haha. Personally, I'm fine with previously started material to be entered, but some of the other contestants might not have the same feeling. We'll see what people say

great initiative Dj, thanks for your time and always pushing the game!!!
i think that tracks already started should be allowed (i saw on some topics that tracks like millville, redbud...had been alredy start, they will be great for the contest in my opinion, replicas are so good).
For prize i think creator can be motivted with prize, and deserve it! all works deserve a reward.
if there is a paypal account or something like this, me i am willing to participate for a prize.

1. lets seee that later when we know how much competition is up (someone should put up a list who are going to atleast try to finish or make one...)

2. no since that only makes then have to wait :D (i dont realy care since i will not win anyways...)

3. First off, can the track hold two separated tracks, one with the timing gates, other with non... (like an sx track with a enduro/supermoto/mx going round it or something...)

I think if someone has already started they can finish it for this. This competition should be motivation ofr them to finish it. Though we will have to see if I can finish mine this time, once again I'll miss a week of work.
