2018 MXS Italian Championship Rd 10: Namur, the final showdown!

Post by honda23 »

Round 10 - Namur

Image

The track:
Probably the young teenagers won't remember what the motocross track of Namur was like, because its roots belongs only to the past, as unfortunately, from 2008 on the Citadelle didn't host races anymore due to safety conditions. On the other hand, the mayor guys will clearly remember all the great battles there...the protagonists were names like Stefan Everts, Johnny O' Mara, Roger De Coster, Josh Coppins, Eric Gebores and so on. Namur hosted tons of races from the '50s and in particular 5 Motocross Of Nations (1951, 1956, 1959, 1965, 2001), that suggests how the track was important and how spectacular it was. The layout didn't had great changes and mainly was build like this: it started from a really large square where the theatre was located, then a down-hill jump introduced the woods, riders had to ride between houses, rocks, trees...after comes the first double step-down (the most brave riders doubled both of them :D), then a single step-down and another double step-down. At this point the track joined the street where the Namur cafè was located (not a pub anymore unfortunately): in the 1988 GP, Håkan Carlqvist won his last race and he stunned the spectators by stopping before the end of the 2nd moto to drink a beer, while leading the race by somewhat 50 seconds, and going back into the race to win it. That's awesome :D
Then followed a pretty long double jump to the double step-up, and...here comes the most beautiful part of the track: 4 massive up-hill jumps just near the castle of the Citadelle. Today that part is still alive and is used for mountain biking (like the rest of the track anyway). Then a pretty steep down-hill to the final jump into the arena once again to start a new lap.
Every rider who raced at Namur said he had had great times, the track was awesome and the atmosphere too and that's a pity that everything stopped after so many years of racing with people stunned by the beauty of those days. Despite that, we seriously hope a come back in the future, possibly very soon :D
In 2017 MXS Italian Championship, in the amateur mx2 class Jack Gatland won easily followed by Simone Santini and Jason Helm while in the amateur mx1 class, Janik Schroter struggled hard to get on the first step of the podium, Christoffer Jonsson 2nd and the captain of the RKI/JDS Ivan Dallari 3rd. In the pro open class, the overall went to the TMFR rider Alanas Saulys, Logan Leitzel 2nd and and Harry white 3rd.

Round 9 - Montevarchi

Image

The track:
The track is located in the region of Toscana, it's 1650 meter long and is built on a nice hill which makes it beautiful, it has pretty high elevations with different kind of jumps and corners that test the rider's cleverness. It was born in 1969 and the historical motoclub Brilli-Peri has hosted since that date over 150 motocross events. In particular, the world gp races took place in 1980,1982, 1994, 1998, 2003 and 2006.
About last year...in the amateur mx2 class it was an easy win for JacK Gatland, followed by Kevin Hergle and James Beston. In the amateur mx1 class Tirone took the overall win, Jonsson 2nd and Schroter 3rd. In the pro class, Seaburg could afford a 1st podium position, Muller 2nd and Lynds 3rd.

Round 8 - Asti

Image

The track:
Who has not been to this awesome italian track? Every motocross rider has been there and you can tell him he has had the best journey he has ever done! It's a kind of unforgettable feeling because unfortunately, the Valmanera circuit of Asti has been closed since many years now...what a disappointment for all the motocross riders. Actually the problem is not really clear yet but probably this track was not declared or something like that, so it had to be closed, leaving many people worried about it. However, now people continue to ask to re-open this beautiful track because they have always found it useless to close it since there's no matter. Since 1972 this track has hosted tons of races: regionals, nationals and gp's too making history which is still impressed in the mind of people, the last race was probably the final round of the 125 italian championship the 21 October 2012. What can we say more...this is a really technical track with many up and downhills, huge jumps and fun corners!

Round 7 - Maggiora

Image

The track:
This is probably one of the most historic motocross tracks built in Europe in the 50's! The awesome circuit of Maggiora is located in north Italy in the region on Piemonte and has a great history! Since 1958 this track was known all over the world for its beauty and its technicity hosting some national races, but in the 70's it gained much more importance because it had been the hometown of loads of gp's and many Motocross of Nations: the most important one was in 1986 and still today people remember all the great battles that took place at the track and still describe it as the most powerful motocross event of the history. That year the USA won with Jhonny O'Mara on the 125, Ricky Johnson on the 250 and David Bailey on the 500.
After many years of races, unfortunately the track closed in the first years of the 2000. After 14 years the track reopened thanks to the organisers Paolo Schneider and Stefano Avandero who re-brought this track to host the italian world gp in 2013. The 2015 gp has been a really strange one with many crashes in particular: Cairoli's crash which made him retire from the championship and Febvre crash on the tabletop to the downhill, however he continued with a crooked handlebar and finished with a 6th place.
Results from last year: in the amateur 250 class, Thomas Baptiste won the overall followed by Jason Helm and Tyler Harris whereas in the amat 450 class, the captain of the TMFR Jonsson got the highest step of the podium, Tirone 2nd and the RKI/JDS boss Dallari 3rd. In the pro class it was an easy overall victory for Alanas Saulys followed by Clint Martin and Ben Seaburg.

Round 6 - Malpensa

Image

The track:
It all began in the late '60 when a group of people decided to found a sport association called Moto Club MV Gallarate (name given by the big motorcycle company MV Agusta S.p.A.)
So this company provided the Moto Club a big strategic field near the highway to the international airport where they built a fantastic motocross track.
Since that time the track has been used for loads of competitions: regionals, nationals, internationals races and GP's also, the last of them was in 2004: a very big race event with a huge crowd.
The track is unique in it's way because it's built on a hill and it's really technical, has high jumps and fun drop offs and...ah...did you know that also italians have a really huge leap? It's called DAMI'S LEAP ahahah, that's because a rider called Stefano Dami had been the first who hit it...anyway the jump cannot be compared to the Larocco's leap. This is the biggest jump of the track: a downhill triple. In real life it's really hard to hit and gives another sensation but in game you know...it's not the same.

Round 5 - Castellarano

Image

The track:
Motoclub Castellarano was born in 1979 by a buch of people and riders who were really into motocross. This was only the beginning because nowaday the motoclub has over 250 fellow members,
The track instead was born 3 years later when the motoclub could afford to buy a quite big plot of land which was before used as a quarry and after that, the very first UISP races and Trofeo Italia appeared. As the track continues expanding and developing, the motoclub does too: in fact, motocross was not the only sport that was taken into consideration but also cross country and enduro; moreover, many riders of the Motoclub Castellarano had als othe possibility to compete at high levels in the FMI and european championship.
The track is located in Emilia Romagna on a quite steep hill and has many fast sections (like the very first part of it), some nice up and downhill jumps, tabletops and waves. The soil of course is hardpack with rocks and very slippery in rainy conditions.
Unfortunately the track layout changed recently (some months ago) and the in game layout is the old one because we didn't predict that these changes were going to happen. By the way, the old layout still kicks ass!

Round 4 - Arsago Seprio

Image

The track:
Not many of you guys, we suppose, know about the Fastcross race held in Arsago Seprio (Italy) in the '80s and '90s but this was an unique event at that time in which took part the fastest riders all over the world including USA as well. In fact, Jeremy McGrath, Mike Larocco and Larry Ward were usual guests there and came every year. Those years saw great battles between great riders (just to mention other names: Everts, Puzar, Chiodi, Stanton and Parker) from 1984 till the year 2000, after that year the event was sadly stopped.
The track was an hybrid between mx and sx, is was located near the Malpensa Airport, next to Arsago Seprio and was built on a natural hill. Of course it required different rider's skills because there were whoops also and American riders could be of course advantaged. The mx/sx layout was designed to attract them and surely the sx schools helped a lot: there were spectacular tabletops, doubles and triples, even kind of rhythm sections. There's no need to say that only 2 strokes were used as it was an old event and 4 strokes were still not that developed.

Round 3 - Cavallara

Image

The track:
The history of the Motoclub Cavallara is relatively short because the track was created in the early '70, i say short because if we compare it to the other italian motocross tracks, they are particularly old. The actual Motoclub was born only in 1992 because in the previous years, the track was controlled by 2 different Motoclubs which couldn't overcome many setbacks and a difficult situation. The track can be considered a typical old-style one, the soil is very hard-pack, it's layout follows the path of the mountains and that makes it a spectacular track, it has long jumps and high elevations. It's characteristics suggest this is a very difficult and technical track. This structure has not hosted many important races so far, the first race was hosted in 1997, an Interregional Trophy, but there's one particular event which people can find only here, that is called "Motocross dei Campioni", a charity race in which take part the most famous riders of the MotoGP such as Valentino Rossi. This event became very popular. Not only did the track host this event, in fact, nowadays the track constantly hosts regional and italian championships, giving space to the little 65 and 85 rippers too. Last year it was a very competitive race in the 250 class where Jack Gatland won the overall followed by De Smaele and Helm whereas in the mx1 class, Tony Leger went 1st, Timothè Lucas 2nd and the TMFR captain Jonsson 3rd. In the pro class Saulys and Muller battled hard to reach the top step of the podium and the german did it, followed by Alanas and Ben Seaburg.

Round 2 - Faenza

Image

The track:
The track of Monte Coralli finds itself in a very famous and popular region of Italy known as Emilia Romagna, a place where the passion for dirtbikes is at it's highest level. The structure is built on a hill with a very spectacular "snake layout", almost an old style one: in fact there just a few jumps but so many uphills and downhills. No need to say that the track is very fun to ride on! It's good geography can also let people have a very clear visibility almost on the entire track while watching races. Some history: The Faenza Motoclub was born in the early 1970s and since then it has hosted every kind of races we can think about with every different kind of bikes such as regionals, nationals, internationals and world championships in 1979, 1982, 1985, 1989, 1993, 2006, 2007 and 2012. This last year saw a victorious Antonio Cairoli who won his 6th world championship title! Last year, in the mx2 class, Senna De Smaele took the overall with a moto 2 victory, Jack Gatland finished 2nd and Jason Helm 3rd whereas in the 450, Tirone again was able to push hard and took the win followed by Jonsson and Schroter. On the other side, in the pro class Ben Seaburg took a nice victory, Fjeldberg 2nd and Leitzel 3rd.

Round 1 - Fiano Romano

Image

The track:
The hard pack track of Fiano Romano is located a few kilometers from the capital of Italy, Rome. It's characterised by many down and uphills, so we can say it's a typical old-style track because we can see only few jumps, quite big anyway. Regarding history we know this structure hosted many races from the '70 such as regionals and nationals, including the quadcross championship. Today the track is still open and it's conditions are at the top!
Great battles last year in the mx2 class where Matt Dowse took the overall followed by Matthias Havy and Cedric Viaene. In mx1 Luca Tirone could easily afford both moto wins, Jacob Turza 2nd and Janik Schroter 3rd. In the Pro class Fjelberg took the victory followed by Chapman and Leclair.

Track is good but same issues as rd1, we dont see anything on some section of the track, like the downhill before the 3 table, there is some bumps but we didnt even see them, same for some premade ruts on the track, and even more with the "erode ruts"

Hi everyone, round 4 of the Italian championship is lagging a lot for me. I am running a ryzen 5 1500 and a 1060 6GB. I get consistent frame rates, but frame timings are awful and frequent stutter make the game unplayable. Does anyone have a Nvidia inspector/control panel setup that works well? Or any other fix that may help? Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the lag inconvenient guys but i guess the track itself was pretty heavy, i don't think it was a "terrain" problem anyway. Next rounds will be a lot lighter, like the first 3
